7 minute qtrs in Mad Marauders and I just played an unranked game of Madden (still on All-Pro though) with 7 minute quarters and I thought I'd post some feedback (albeit from a small sample size of only one game, but I still wanted to post some thoughts). First - Yes, the game did take longer than a standard ranked game, as one would expect... but it wasn't too bad. Only about 90 minutes from start to finish. Second - Both teams ran a total of about 60 offensive plays. I came in at 59, Marauders was about ~64 (I thought it would be more since he was playing catchup and passing it alot more, but it still didn't get out of hand). These numbers are right in line with a real NFL football game. Most teams average right around 60 plays per game, sometimes they run 70-80, other times 45-50, but it usually averages around 60 (alot of that depends on how the game is going of course, and their style of offense). I think the number of plays called is sometimes more important than yardage gained or the score. Those things can flucuate wildly depending on the teams involved, and the people controlling them. Sure, with 120 total plays per game, you'll see some big blowouts, but you'll see alot of tight games and plenty of time for a comeback too. The added bonus is that you don't have to worry about someone intentionally milking the clock way way early like with 4 or 5 minute quarters where one slow drive can almost kill an entire half. If possible, I'd like more people to try and play 7min/AllPro games with other members here and make sure you make mention of it in game notes when posting on the exh. scoreboard. This will help out us better figure out how many minutes we should use for the season (that is, if we do end up using Madden). Anyway, here are the emailed results (I stopped his running pretty well, but he tore me up in the air). My net passing yards would have been higher if not for the 6 sacks against : Code: EA SPORTS Gamer, Here are the official results of your Madden NFL 2005 game on 2004.8.14 18:40:58. I have been playing my franchise games on All-Madden, 7 minute settings with my Raiders. I love the 7 minutes, I feel it gives perfect time for a game, although most people here are going to say that they have family things, and can't play a single game for 90 minutes, which is cool and all, just pointing that out ahead of time.
Well, that will be made clear before signups (if we would go with something more than 4min qtrs). Although, my argument is that I see many people who complain about long games play back to back 60 minute games on 4 min qtrs, and I assume they have family/kid stuff then too. It's just a matter of managing your time, that's all.
The time i usuallyp lay with is 6 minutes but either one will work, the only one that wont is 4 minutes
I dont mind the talk of moving the time.. Anything is better than 4 min.. But in 4 mins... on 4 of the 6 games ive played I had 50+ rushing and 225+ passing... Which makes me thnk that doubling 4mins.. might be a problem... Im about to play socal .. and we'll see how that time works..
Yeah and although I would like to have the games ranked for the season, I think it's better to get a little longer quarters, especially with the 40 second(or however long it is) playclock. Although with the 4 minute , I noticed something yesterday, there was like 38 seconds left in the 3rd quarter and I was up by 7 and had the ball. I choose the wrong play and thought I would just run the clock to the quarter, but something) maybe Fair Play, stopped the clock at 15 seconds so I had to run a play. That is kind of a nice feature, but I would still like to see longer quarters.
Very interesting That's awesome if in fact that is what happened. (I'm not doubting it happened, just hoping it happened because of the fair play feature )
Rushing is a little low, and passing is about right on. Maybe it's who you're playing too. Our defense will improve with time too. Like I mentioned, I think it's more about the number of plays each team gets, not so much yardage and score (since in the real NFL we see huge offensive games, then very low scoring games with minimal yards... but in the end both games had around 50-60 plays called for each team). Just start paying attention to the total plays for each team (add up rush attempts, pass attempts, and punts/FG's).
Well me and nosice just got done playing a game of Madden with 7 minute quarters, and let me just say brilliant! Final score was 19-9 him...yeah I lost . He got two INT's when I was in his redzone, one of which was in his endzone, and he got like a 30 yard return, the other was one where Rich Gannon threw to the complete wrong guy on the wrong side of the field and he picked it and ran it back for a TD. Made me very very mad I then kicked it onside and somehow or another I got it back, but then first play, Kerry Collins throws an INT. Good game nosice. As for final stats, they are taking forever to be e-mailed to me here, but once they are in my inbox, I will post them so you can take a look at them.

That looks really nice guys. I wish there was a way we could crank up the penalty sliders, but oh well, the rest of it looks very realistic.
Yep, I saw my first holding penalty ever during this game And also, maybe turn down the injury setting.I was doing just fine, then Justin Fargas got hit weakly and spun around and down, and he is out for the game?
Yes, there are too many game ending injuries from what I'm seeing, but we can't adjust that either (you could always play with custom sliders online for the PC version, so maybe they'll include that next year for unranked games... please EA =P~ ) Anyway, getting off topic.... back to non 4-min qtr results. Anyone else?
I say 5-6. 7 is too long with having to deal with people choosing plays and 4 is just too short, 5 or 6 might be the nice compromise. We cannot used ranked games as the league minimum, I'm not going to be told when I can and cannot go for it. Seems fair play is more strict in Madden.
I like fairplay. Cuts back on the all the going for it on 4th down in their own zone early in the game. It's not really that restrictive if you play straight up... atleast it's never stopped me from doing anything I wanted to do.
people who have the grapefruits in the drawers to go for it on 4th and inches should have that option you call it whatever you want. the only place fairplay should rear its ugly head with this is when score is out of reach. but i should have the option to extend a drive when its 4th and inches. if i screw up its my loss and the oppenent is in good shape.
Grapefruits in the drawers??? More like your out of your mind. You should thank fairplay as its obviously protecting you from yourself.
