Big scoring games in 4min qtrs are usually the result of one team not knowing what the hell they are doing, and the other guy throwing streak patterns the whole game to abuse that fact. Take a look at the total number of plays run with 4 or 5 minute qtrs, not so much the actual score (which is going to flucuate wildly depending on the teams, players, and how the game played out). No matter if the game was a blowout or close, we'd like to see the plays called at least ~100-120 total for the game.

Nope, not at all, 1 hour and 1 minute, or 61 minutes whichever way you prefer to understand it. I think some people just said it was too long, and made an estimate of times before they even played the game. They should really play, and not complain, before they post that. I am not saying that everybody said it was too long before they played, but a lot did.
I played a 7 minute quarter game against my friend who doesn't visit this site but it was a pretty good game. I didn't keep the statistics, but it was really close but I won it with a score I can't remember. I remember I won it by a field goal with 3 seconds left though. It didn't feel like it was that long though. 8)
Is anyone else notice on the email stats that were posted above it says here are you stats for your NCAA game instead of Madden NFL game? Just curious.
LOL, yeah, they have issues with the email generation I guess. I hadn't noticed that one. The minutes played always gets whacked if you do something other than default. I normally put "7" in there before posting it, but looked right past the NCAA part.

I've been doing an "auto re-sort" of the depth chart before the start off the game. I used to reorder the depth chart here and there to get the best guys at starters (if they weren't already) but the auto re-sort button saves a ton of work (and does your punt/KO returners too).
that's your fault for running all the way across field to try and catch it. should have just let it go
fumbles off of punts have been a nightmare with me thus far in this game. you have to decide so early if you want to fair catch. i think in the 4 ex. paper and i have played that there have been 5 or 6 fumbles off of punts
I have only had 1 fumble on a punt/kickoff in the almost 30 games I've played online so far. That fumble was in the last game I played online against col roulic some people would know from Links. So I dont see all the fumbles everyone is talking about. I just think you need to use the fair catch a lot better instead of trying to break a big one.
Yeah, I've only fumbled when I get stupid and try and manually line up the ball coming in and try and make a move before he actually catches it. I've had one punt return for a TD, and a couple other long ones, but usually it's not worth it... I just let the computer control everything on the punt return until they catch the ball, and take a blocker from the line back to help chip someone until my guy gets the ball. If someone's good enough to punt the ball right near the sidelines, it's just too risky to take control and turbo your way over there to make that catch.
Yep, I learned real quick (had three drop punts returned for TD in the first two nights of online play) to call fair catch when in doubt. What makes matters worse is, when you don't call fair catch and you get 'whacked', you are, atleast I've been, on the ground burried under the guy that tackled me while his teammate picks it up. You can see the whole thing develop and you feel so helpless button smashing trying to get up from under that guy, but he just holds you down. LOL
