Gotta love how he just skates off really slowly for no reason (sarcasm), yea it's funny in the beta but if this don't get fixed it can potentially affect the outcome of league games and there could be a ton of rematch games due to glitches our of the players control. But other than a few glitches (noted above) I love the goalie and hope it doesn't get changed much.
I'll do a quick write up about what I think of the Beta. Here is what I got from all 3 main positions as I've tried all 3 so far. Forward : Good : Passing is not autoaimed, so there is a challenge abut it that makes the game interesting Poke checks are more efficient which is a plus for the forecheck, but a minus cause defenders are more likely to get a random poke of you, but that is more of a fun challenge I think Skating is more smooth if you don't go full speed all the time Bad : Passes sometimes go nowhere near where you aimed, as in you aim top right and it soft locks on somehow who was in the middle so just goes nowhere shots miss the net a lot. Even with a sniper, which is ironic Dangle are broken. There is dangles I've seen people try 20 times, and so far it's 0/20. I'm talking about the through the legs one Defense : Good : Pokes are efficient passing makes it more difficult for break outs and helps separate those who relied on auto aim More collisions which if a forward is stupid and tries to go through you, the puck will deflect off a skate Bad : seems like picking up passes from opponents is sometimes broken Goalie : Good : Movement is not as b-a-d I feel like looks like if youre in position, you will make most saves Bad : I really don't like the way you hug post in butterfly as sometimes is feels like it's not doing it at all The precision movement doesn't allow you to go from left to right, yet if you don't do that you'll just go too far Movement responses is delayed which makes it hard for breakaways Overall the gme is an improvement of 16, but still has a lot of stuff from 16 still happening. This is quickly what I got. Now, it is fun to criticize this games, but I also feel like 17 will be a new game, different than the beta just like 16 was. So all this talk won't be as useful.
@McDonald l19l I dont know if the question has been asked but with the new network performence will players who lag out be forced to take a screen shot of their network performence ? When it comes to the game this definily a step forward, hpping that they dont tune the shit out of it before its released. And anyone who says its the same game please play a couple of games of 17 and go back and play 16 and tell me theres no difference.
Only a few issues i could see that are key to getting adjusted would be the effectiveness of poke checks from behind and pass interceptions, more often then not when in position to pick off passes they just go right through you.
Goalie complaints Getting stuck sitting on your ass after making a save. The push off the post is to strong when you only want to come off by a bit (bring back letting go the trigger to get off the post). Can't hug the post while in butterfly when the puck is above the goal line. General complaints Music sucks. Can't invite 12 players could cause issues. Player names (Jon lol), should have better options. Basic nhl jerseys should be unlocked for club from the start. @MCDONALD l19l @jonlol
Getting off the post is fine, I got no complaints about it personally but the other things I agree with
There is a really annoying sound effect that starts once you reach the main menu and loops as long as the game is up and running (even after you begin a game). It needs to be axed very, very badly. Right now, the only was to disable it is to mute SFX in the audio options, which is not viable (unless you want to play without sound effects). As somebody who plays without commentators, this annoys the heck out of me. @MCDONALD l19l
This game is soooooooooo garbage... Just watch... Frenchies made this game, and Frenchies will glitch goal supreme... It will be unbearable and you will all be begging for Leaguegaming to play out the next season on NHL16. Well done EA... fuckin scrubs
Review after a few nights of lots of gameplay: Overall I find it a much more enjoyable version of NHL than 16. This version leans towards playmaking ability and positioning more than any other NHL I've played. I'm really enjoying it. My hope is that EA keeps the game more about this style of play and they do not resort to making it more arcade style for the actual release. That being said, here are some things I'd like to point out... Fix: 1- passing. I like that you really have to aim your passes, however it is not always passing in the direction aimed. 2- puck pickups. Remove auto puck pickups, it is terrible and always has been- sending your player way off trajectory. 3- game fx. Sounds are blowing out my speakers, even cutting out the sound after goals. Constant background machinery noise is annoying and distracting. 4- defense net battles. Great idea but not there yet, having to hold Y is inconvenient and doesn't kick in right away. Feels largely ineffective so far, and seemingly takes you out of the play to enable it. 5- slot play in general is really sloppy, hard to pickup puck at all, lots of fanning on shots. 6- defenders are sometimes able to catch up to breaking forwards way too easily from a standstill, and conversely sometimes cannot skate at all to catch up. Needs to be a happy medium there. 7- wraps. just ridiculous that super-human wraps are still able to be in this game. Make it way harder. Keep: - the dangles situation-appropriate and more difficult, it makes for less arcade style game play. - the emphasis on team play and playmaking/positioning - the skating, the control is much nicer than it's ever been EA please resist the urge to make EASHL more arcade style and new user friendly, you're on the right track finally.
I noticed that if a breaking forward gets past both defense he gets like an extra boost of speed to get separation which is nice to a point but the whole time is unrealistic, he should just gain a quick boost but then go back to normal skater speed and the wraps are reduced but still can go in at a high rate even on goalies who are great at covering posts. This game is based on team play in the defensive aspect and really plays into the goalies that know how to be a goaltender and not a wannabe goalie but middlesits all game. Definitely more realistic over arcade style.
