Since no one has given you a real answer... PS4. I own both and I think the PS4 is the superior system right now. Xbox just seems super laggy to me and although I think the dashboard is a lot more advanced than the PS4's, it is clunkier and harder to navigate. The games don't matter since both have very few exclusives that are a big deal.
If you want a good community and fun time online get Xbox One if not ps4. Nobody talks online on Playstation it gets a little boring
Get new friends? I have plenty of people to talk to. Basically if you have a hard on for this particular community or any xbox exclusive; get an XB1. If not, PS4 is the way to go.
Notice how the playstation guys are the ones that always give their "complete and honest" answer in these things? haha Having said that, I like Xbox One for the competition level in the games I play. I don't venture off and play other games to try. All I will be getting is NHL, FIFA, COD, and maybe HALO. So my biased opinion, based on what I play, xbox is the way to go if you are in the same boat as me.
Depends on what you are looking for. PS4 blows in my opinion. Although the Xbox One may, as one person put it, be a bit 'clunky'...It has much more features that I as a person look for. The online community is better on the One by far, competitive and casual. (People on PS4 are more of individuals rather than communities. Unless you have friends to talk to, absolutely no one talks in Gamechat whenever I've played it. Unlike the Xbox One where it's like an unorganized UN meeting in every FIFA match.) The competitive communities are much more evolved on the One, so if you're looking to play sports games (FIFA, NHL, or any other game with Pro Clubs), Xbox One. I have a PS4 in my house, and I hate it. If I'm sitting in a lobby I can't snap TV to pass the time, I can't snap Internet Explorer and check Facebook (or porn of course), I can't pull up YouTube in the background and have it playing music. You really can't do much but wait... This argument will always be a opinion based matter, but if you like this community, or the ability to play in large communities across multiple games in a competitive way, Xbox One is by far the dominant console.
And this is why people put XB1 into the category of all-in-one entertainment system rather than being specifically a gaming console which the PS4 is with the luxury of a few video apps. It's all about user preference, controller preference and how your living/gaming space is setup and what you desire. An all-in-one (and imo incredibly lazy man's console with Kinect) or strictly a gaming console that can still work as an all-in-one if you purchase/currently own a multi-HDMI input amplifier/receiver which could cost you the $100 that Kinect would (Yes, I realise you can still snap with just the controller as well).
Anyone who thinks the XB1 dashboard is laggy or clunky will be very happy when the next dashboard is rolled out to everyone not in the preview program.
