World JR Championship Season 10 Eligibility, Format and Timelines

Having a longer gap between the end of the Summer season and the release of NHL 21, we will be conducting a larger and more extensive World Jrs tournament. We're also going to borrow a few elements of the ongoing CBJ Gaming Pepsi Summer Cup into the tournament.

Eligibility:

• World Jrs is for Veterans, Amateurs, Draft Picks or Prospects who;
  • Ended the season on a CHL roster (or TC), not in the LGCHL PSN S14 playoffs and NOT on an AHL or NHL (active/17 man-roster) roster.
  • Were eliminated in the first or second round of the LGCHL PSN S14 Playoffs.

Format:

• 32 Teams
• 9 Games Per Week (Standard CHL Schedule Times)
  
• 4 weeks of Round Robin Play
  
• Top 16 Teams Qualify for Playoffs
• Each Team will have 1 Owner, 1 General Manager and 1 Assistant General Manager.
• Management must meet eligibility criteria, not received a ban in LGCHL PSN S14, and not be on the NML.
  
• Each team will be required to draft 14 Players.
• Each team is required to carry 9 Forwards, 6 Defensemen, and 2 Goalies.
• Teams will be allowed 3 non-waiver call-up/send-down transactions over the course of the tournament. These must be used by the start of Week 4 of Swiss Format Play (September 13th @ 8pm ET), and will be sent directly to staff for processing. If a roster spot needs to be filled due to a player quitting or being removed from the Tournament by the League, these will not count against the 3 allowed transactions.
• Players that quit or are removed from World Jrs will receive a 2-season LG hockey ban.

Timelines:

• Sign-ups open: Now - August 20th @ 6pm ET
  
• Ownership applications: Now - August 12th @ 8pm ET
• Owner Interviews: August 10th - August 14th
  
• Owners Announced: August 15th
• Position Changes Close: August 20th @ 4pm ET
  
• WJC Draft: August 20th @ 8pm ET
  
• WJC Swiss Format Play: August 23rd - September 16th
  
• WJC Playoffs (All Best of 7):
  • Round of 16 - Sept 20
  • Quarterfinals - Sept 27
  • Semifinals - Oct 4
  • Gold Medal / Bronze Medal - Oct 11

The Staff in WJC is members of the Dev Team who take on the role of a BoG to run WJC.
The following Staff members are here to answer any questions about WJC, deal with all the situations that arise and ensure that WJC is a smooth and functioning operation.

So if I'm reading correctly, an AGM is chosen prior to draft just like a GM?

As mentioned; amazing format, excited to fill that gap between 20 and 21 since I can't work still. I was mildly hoping they would have used this to test the 3-3-3 format.

448 DPs starting at 8PM EST. Is the draft a 2 night event? Seems like it might take a while with that many teams selecting 14 players.

 

Yes either start earlier or have it a two night event!

 

you can easily make it 7 rounds each night and 224 DPs each night on the 20th and 21st

 

We currently have over 600 signups, which is more than enough for the draft and TCs, so we will not be including third round eliminations in the tournament.

So if i was a TC on a CHL team that made the playoffs im not eligible?

 

If you were a TC on a CHL team that is still in the playoffs, you are not eligible.

Including the TCs in that seems a little odd, honestly. Maybe an exclusion for TCs who never played a playoff game? You've got great roster players out in round two who are eligible, but a player who rode the bench for a team that went deep is out of luck? Seems a bit unbalanced. Maybe worth re-evaluating those rules next time.

 

It's been this way from the beginning and will continue to stay this way because your CHL team takes priority, they don't want a situation where your WJC team has you scheduled as a roster player yet your CHL team needs you for a playoff spot, it's better to say no and avoid it altogether.

 

Decent enough rationale. Still kinda feel like there should be a way to get new players out of that potential trap. But that makes sense.
