The day after I wrote this...my dad died. I made it 8 days and lit up as soon as I got the phone call on Sunday night that he was gone. I am going to quit for good next week for him but mostly for me.
Sorry to hear about you dad man. That must have been tough. Keep up the hard work man, you can do it!
sorry to hear junk i've heard u could get a prescription for nicorette gum if that helps u or anyone out there good luck buddy
News like that killed my last attempt at quitting. At xmas last year my dad informed us that he had Cancer due to getting sprayed w/ Agent Orange in Vietnam. I was sailing on my 3rd day doing constant pushups anytime I got a craving. But I couldn't deal w/ that much stress, so I went and bought a pack and proceeded to get absolutely shnockered w/ my brother and sister for the first time. Next attempt to quit? dunno...
I am over a year now wthout a smoke , it's very very hard to not have the morning coffee without a dart or the evening pint without a puff... I don't regret quitting at all and am finally starting to feel the positive effects of a fuller lung capacity , well , pneumonia aside  my Daughter is super active in sports ( she's 5 ) and I will be her Coach in Soccer as well as baseball , I would rather be on the field with her than in the stands puffing away.
Good job Rob. I only smoked for a few years in college and it was hard as hell to quit. I dont know how guys who have smoked 10+ years can do it. And yep those are the hardest things, with coffee in the morning and with a few beers. But believe me, soon you wont even think about it anymore.
I've been over a year without them as well. They made it easier here in Ohio with a city wide ban on smoking in public places then banned it statewide in a voter initiative last November. It was difficult to go without the smokes in one hand when a beer was in the other. I had smoked since about freshman year of college, so around 6 years with very brief periods of "quitting" during that time. I actually got tempted a few weeks ago. I tried to take one hit when I had put down a few drinks but the cigarrette tasted like crap and i got rid of it.
I smoked cigarettes for almost 15 years, averaging anywhere from 1 to 2 packs per day, depending on social situation. I'm very proud to be able to say that I had my very last cigarette in August of 2005!
Question for you smokers, with todays prices for cigs, if you smoked 2 packs a day how much a year are you spending? im sure the prices are different state to state right?
Depends on the brand. In Oklahoma, low end is $3 bucks, premiums up to about $5. I smoke Newport Mediums 100's, fuckers are $5 a pack. I smoke about a half a pack a day or so. :-&
