Which team wins the S18 Calder Cup why/why not?

In terms of ranking favourites

1. Albany
2. Rochester
3. Abbotsford
4. Texas
5. Iowa/Bridgeport

Reasons:

Abbotsford
Albany

Both these teams are identical last season, and both teams should be contenders this season.

Rochester

The team has a solid management group and acquired skill immediately. They will likely be near the top of the standings.

Texas
Iowa
Bridgeport

These guys still need to fill out their rosters, but they were incredibly successful and there is no reason to think they will not be this season.

Whatever team has Shaun will win the Calder.

 

Rockford will contend if [MENTION=7668]LeafsMan13[/MENTION] can handle the big 3rd line minutes.

Albany because of the Sop line. The Sop line is the reason why the 29 other teams have bath-towels on their benches for each player. Good Luck to all

If I had to pick 1 team as the favorite it would be Albany, they have the vast majority of their core coming back, they play a team defense oriented game, keep the shots down and have production from both the O and the D depending on the line. The addition of Kapaka can only improve them. I think IOWA is going to be the surprise team this season, and not in a good way. After losing their top line to Phoenix for 7 million I'm not sure they'll have anywhere near the same production across all 3 lines that they did last season. Wonger playing with tats is going to be interesting to watch develop, he's an underrated player imo, with good loose puck skills awareness and vision. Paired with the right people I think Wonger is going to be a player who has a massive turn around this season.

 

I'm surprised that you like Albany considering how bad you think DOMS is and how much he needs to be carried...

I've made it clear that I think DOMS is a good defender, just had a very bad series vs USA. But way to try and stir the pot Jay, also DOMS is one of 6 D on the team. I know you're supposed to be a smart guy but I didn't think simple math was beyond you, or that you lacked the hockey knowledge to know a team isn't about ONE player. See you in the season.

 

I will go with whatever team I'm traded to half way through the season. Worked out last season.

 

We were favorites for about 6 hours. Than coach snakes waived Shaun... Thanks a lot big owner guy. Springfield will win. Shaun will carry the entire team. Look for Shaun to sneak in with 3 tags and play on all three lines. He may even queue up multiple xboxs to play goalie at the same time. Guy is a beast in net. This is to much. I'm done.

I was shocked to be honest with Albany not getting to the finals last year but pre-bidding they may have actually gotten better. [MENTION=7358]ImJeff[/MENTION] and [MENTION=7163]v MAXWELL z[/MENTION] have like always put together a great roster.

 

AnthraxDusted is a saint to give his AHL the 15th and 16th overall DPs. Plus all the rest of NJs picks. Definitely put ALB as the team to beat.
