Underrated Player Spotlight - NicotheGoon

Let's talk about a player who was putting in the work this season but didn't get the recognition he deserved. That player is @NicotheGoon . This man is a pure goalscorer; there is no other way to define it. He does not miss the back of the net when he sees open space. After playing a few seasons in the CHL, Nico finally got the opportunity in Season 47 to play in the ECHL, and boy, did he not disappoint. In his first season in the ECHL Nico finished 4th overall in goals! Doing so is no minor feat, especially considering the inconsistency of his line.

In S47, Nico was traded 4 times. He began his season on the Nailers, where he netted 11 goals and went 4-1-1. Then, he was traded to the Railers and instantly flipped to the Heartlanders. On the Heartlanders, Nico scored 18 goals and went 4-5-1 before being moved to the Aces. With the Aces, Nico went 2-0-1 and scored 7 goals, then was transferred to the Growlers, who instantly flipped him back to the Heartlanders, where he finished the season going 1-5 while netting 9 goals.

All in all, Nico went 11-11-3 and scored 44 goals, an excellent feat for a player who was consistently railroaded by indecisive management. I wouldn't be surprised if we see Nico moved up another tier to the AHL next season. He has all the talent to be a top goalscorer at whatever level he is playing at. This kid is the real deal; the entire league should watch out!

 

I questioned my management when they traded him. Yes, hes young, but he makes call outs all game and like you said, can put the puck in the back of the net. With the Aces struggling all season long, why trade a goal scorer. When I asked why, it was because there were complaints he was "annoying" on the mic and wouldn't pass the puck.

We were all young once, the kid is having fun and trying to be competitive at the same time and wants to win like the rest of us. I wish him the best in future seasons and hope he is given a real chance with a solid group.

Kids good, but he tries to do the same cut in front of the net everytime he has it and is very predictable to defend. Believe we shut him down after watching the stream while waiting. It's fine to play hero hockey if it works but he's not him yet. Hes good though, and will only get better.

Let make sure we are being appropriate as a community as well.

 

He just does the same play, id score 40 if i shot short side 10 times a game on pylons all season. Theres a reason he was dealt so many times lol.

Nicos a great kid. The only trade I regret this season, tbh.

Players become better playing with good players, a season of gbaby and doco would've been huge for him.

Also shoutout Iowa keeping him on a rotting team rather than sending him back to his friends.
