Exactly. All that standby button does on your cable modem is disconnects you from the internet, but not completely so that when you hit it again, you're right back on... no change in IP, no reboot, etc.. Basically, it's as if you dropped alot of packets to the server, then you pop back on. It induces lag (same as pulling the plug in and out, but much quicker since it's the touch of a button). I would think that only that person would be effected though (ie. you'd see them lag), unless it was the host at the time that was causing the lag... but in theory the server should jump to a new host if that happens.
in a way i guess im accusing people but at the same time it sure was fishy... How it kept happening and everybody seemed to be effected by the lag except one team.. Very frustrating... But i was okay with the results until this all started with sunday's room... I figured we played through lag and so should everybody else
Im sure it was frustrating but why accuse people of cheating over it? I dont appreciate it and im sure the rest of the Prophets dont either.
I could care less about what happened in the league games and this is the only post I'll be making about this, but Nosice you shouldn't call people out publicly like that unless you had all the facts. This is MY team your talking about and it really ticks me off that you were accusing them of cheating. The one thing you should know is that we had a post in our forums about how laggy that game was as well. Therefore, it was affecting both/all teams. Now, I'm not going to dismiss the fact that this post could've been a "cover-up" to make it appear that way in case the issue was raised. However, I trust what was said is true and this post was made either late Saturday night or early Sunday before this whole bs debacle started.
I think this thread should be closed as it seems it it just a bunch of sore losers trying to pin "cheating" on the other team. This is a freakin game guys, grow some balls and stop crying over it. This is online gaming there is ALWAYS going to be lag. It is useless to complain about it. It is so stupid to make threads like this because all it does is start wars.
AMEN Brother!!! How about addressing these issues in a civilized manner. I seriously doubt anyone here would pull a trick like that to win a game. In my opinion if we're going to continue with a Halo league for a second round we need to appoint 6 LG members to a committee and take into consideration all of the difficulties that have come about during the past 4 weeks. Otherwise this league will die out... I have a blast playing the game in a league format with you guys, but people not showing up, terrible settings and the whining in the forums is getting on my nerves. How about we all try to make it a better experience instead of crapping on everyone elses good time.
I couldnt agree more. It is all for fun anyways... To tell the truth, the last level in the Sunday room, in which I was in, was a bit laggy for both teams. I couldnt walk straight for a majority of the last couple minutes when flags were being taken. It happens and it is part of the game. There was absolutely no cheating going on 8).

I'm pretty much done with this halo league anyways as are most of the people on our team that played in that match.
So this one little issue caused the whole league to get stopped. That's really stupid. Guys, it's just a game, some people take this way to seriously. We aren't even playing for money.
No this one issue is not the reason to get this league stopped. There are many other factors that may eventually lead to this decision.
Oh well, I'm sure everyone will regroup, forget what happened, and make season 2 awesome. Then again, Tris10 is running this thing so maybe not.
I'd also like to add an "AMEN". edit: Although, it is kinda funny to sit back and watch a bunch of adults fighting about a video game. 'Makes for some good reading...lol.
