Roster Reset for NHL 17 . . . Yes or No

We have too many AHL owners fuck!

 

If anything just get rid of loopholes that allow owners to trade resigns. Such as having resigns before trades open.

Honestly it doesn't matter if we reset or not ..can we just ban the shlep dirt bag owners that trade away all their players for nothing and quit? No buy backs..just ban them for 6 seasons or more...I'm also in favor of ip banning these douche bags

- The League can re-pick Owners and GMs
You can do this anyways, if you have good options (spoiler, you dont) get rid of the owners who aren't as good.
- Possibly eliminate unsuccessful owners if we have more/better quality applicants

Maybe there would be, but I know for a fact there are a large number of quality management that simply wouldnt return if there was another roster reset.
- Possibility of better people taking MGMT for fear of bidding
Yeah, you totally want players who have no desire to do management to do management for fear of bidding, great "pro".
- Bad teams being taken over by MGMT not returning have a chance to compete based off their decisions, not prior MGMTS poor decisions
Take 2 seasons to build a team rather than 1 and this isnt a problem. If you take over a team with 1 season of success in mind you're doing it wrong.

Players/Contracts/Balance of Power
- Everyone will be back in bidding
- Salaries will be better well balanced
In 3 seasons salaries are so unbalanced!!! Give it time to balance out instead of resetting every time.
- The league can better balance the divisions, based off of MGMT teams, compared to just giving 1st come 1st serve to team selection
- Bad contracts will be eliminated
As soon as bidding happens they'll be back, abolish bidding and we'll never have a bad contract again.
- Multi-year AHL contracts eliminated
- Summer season BS trades eliminated
THE REASON THESE HAPPEN ARE ROSTER RESETS
- Summer season rental players eliminated (could still happen if theres always a roster reset though as well)



CONS
Mangement
- MGMT teams threatening to not return bc they have to get their guys through bidding again and they could go for more
Not returning because bidding on 15 new people is obnoxious.
- MGMT teams actually not returning
- MGMT teams losing out on a team they worked hard on to build (dynasty)

Contracts
- Good contracts eliminated
- Guys signed longer term contract gone
- Players who were on great contracts and producing contracts will go up (is that a con though?)
- Draft Pics traded for become useless

*The media team is not for or against the reset






Contracts will even out as these elite contract draft picks hit RFA, etc. Don't reset rosters right before we get back to equilibrium, please.

You could easily fix this by simply adding "buyouts" to teams being taken over by new management.

I know there will probably be some players that won't like that idea but personally, if new management wants me gone so bad that they're willing to void my contract rather than trade me, I'm probably better off going back into bidding and finding a new team that actually wants me.



If you want new "good" management, you need a lot more than a roster reset.

You need some sort of perk or end of season reward for owners/management to do a good job that makes the position coveted. Right now the position of owner/GM is well known to suck ass and nobody is going to want to do it without real incentive.

Rounds players get drafted in salary cap. Snake style draft. All players drafted receive 2 year deals. Obviously it can be modified a bit if needed. Just an idea.

I know this is my first season as owner. However if we reset rosters every game it gets rid of the heart of this league. An online NHL simulation league.
There is nothing that stops the league from removing owners so up and coming owners like myself can get a chance now.
As you stated draft picks would be practically worthless. And it would probably deter people from taking management in summer seasons.

I know I fought to get Carolina to keep the organization in tact for Macros and myself. Our goal was to make Carolina relevant and I feel that we have. To do so in a summer season with a lot of unknowns from most of the NHL regulars is I feel a feat within itself.

And by gathering the picks I have this season it allows me to continue with my success this season and help build my AHL to be successful next season since it has hit a tough patch this season.

These are the things that make LG worthwhile to people in management. To take that away just makes us a big 6s league.

 

Bigger issue is the fact that you guys are allowing "I'll agree to trade you back next season" trades. That is conceivably the most idiotic, unrealistic thing ever put into place in this league. You get the rare guy IRL like Vermette who was with ARZ, traded to CHI in 2015, then signed with ARZ the following offseason but 999/1000 times this NEVER happens.

Why would anyone in their right mind want to take management and try to build a team for a full season when all of the good players on non-playoff teams are put out on loan for nothing at the deadline.

Figure it out, nerds.

Few simply modifications I think

First double every salary written down per round along with team salary cap and remove those 500k salary and just make them 1 Million. This would make NHL salary cap 80 Million and 1st round pick 14 million.

Then AHL salary can be 40 Million and use same template to draft AHL teams. This way a 1st rounder in AHL is 7 Million unlike the NHL 1st rounder that's 14 Million. This gives NHL teams more chances to call up high priced AHL players.

The issue with this I can see is that many NHL players will attempt to sign up after NHL bidding to gain salary advantage. So a new random draft order will be needed for AHL to prevent NHL teams with early NHL draft picks to tell players to wait till AHL draft.

Again. Just floating a idea that I doubt will ever happen.

 

This is unfortunately, just one part of many other issues.

Owners are constantly trying to circumvent the rules which creates a poor result. This isnt a real life hockey league here. We can create/modify rules all day and night, but at the end of the day, if management isnt using their own personal morals to keep the league fun, this will always happen.

Management needs to have all the pieces together in order to make the league run well:

-Knowledge of the players
-Knowledge of all rules/aspects of the league
-Proper morals to ensure the above is conducted within their respective limits

Those three, to me, aren't being performed.

Not sure what you mean by "you" but the league as much as we are not pleased with those trades, we really can't do anything about it this season. Since even if we were to decline trades that have the trade not "player loans" they could just do the trade once again without saying it and BAM.

Back on the roster reset thing, it will not happen. There is no way this would help the league to reset the rosters every 3 seasons.
