With the desert courses passing us by now, I have to say, I really feel like I'm on the verge of contending with Disturbed and the rest of the top guys. If not for putting I could probably have 4-5 top 10's already just on the desert courses! My ball striking is great, probably averaging 95% FIR and 90% GIR. Distance putting is also good, I made about 80% of putts from 8-15 feet and my lag putting has improved quite a bit (except the 2nd round at the major). The problem for me has been inside 5 feet. It seems any time there is break, the ball comes off completely sideways from where I'm aiming. The stroke is straight through but the ball goes crazy. Any suggestions how to fix that? It probably costs me 2-3 shots each round. Anyways, It's been fun so far. I'm currently 23rd on the points list without a top 10. I think the competition has been good so far, the commishes have picked some good courses for us and I am really looking forward to the next set of courses.
I've been surprised with how well I've been doing too. Its been the short putts to 8 feet that have been my downfall where it shows a slight slope so I move the cursor to the edge of the hole, but the ball just goes straight. A top 10 will come for you soon, it just sucks where some people will check to see how the wind is doing before playing the round first and exit out if its high. Hope they do make an update where wind is set.
im the same missed 10 to 12 putts inside of 8 feet in the first three rounds my long putting is what saves me they were fast greens so the short ones break more then they do on other green speeds when i miss its always under the cup
It's pretty deflating to hit a shot to 3-4 feet or lag one to the same and then not even touch the hole!
yea i move the shot stick up for short ones now everything depends on green speed not to many course we play are fast greens they play totally different
My putter has taken a crap since the last patch. I rubbed some mashed up cialis on it but still come up just short. If i do just a little power than i originally think and the ball goes flying past the hole. Frustrating. Hope this new patch fixes me back.
I feel your pain. Some days I seem to hole them all, but other days like today I missed them all, that's golf. The second round at Baja I missed 4 putts inside of 5 feet and a few others inside 10 feet, which turned a competitive round into a 65. That's just the way it goes, I just get angry for a second or two, curse my inability to consistently make these easy putts and move on. Then try to birdie the next one. You just have to keep believing that your time will come, when you hole everything you look at. Everyone is here to try to win, but you just have accept that there are people better than you, or at least more consistent than you.
When I first started playing this game, the putting was easy, heck they even determined the length of put needed to get there. Then after the patch, uphill putts come up short, missing way more putts on the low side, and lipping out has became frequent. Im starting to adjust some to the patch but its hard trying to forget what I started out with. I miss more putts under 10 feet, then I ever have the ladt two weeks. I keep trying to add length, over compensate for hard breaks, but I play by feel and repetition and its tough to break a habit.
yep, that last patch really altered how i would putt from before. They did some kind of thing around the cup in the programming with the last patch. Whatever it was i hope the next upcoming patch (sometime this week probably) will tone it down.
Yeah same with me Burton. Definitely frustrating but oh well. And yeah, I understand some guys are really good. Once I learn how to consistently make those putts, I'll be one of them.
