We currently have 14 people signed up. I know there are a few that are on the fence with respect to the Madden league or the ESPN league. I have extended the number of sign-ups to 20. This does not mean we will definately have 20 in the league.

My goal is to have highest number of quality owners in the league. If that number reaches 20 or more great. If we end up with 16 reputable members and 4 guys with 1 post each. We are going with 16.

Just wanted to give you guys some insight. Those that have run a league here or otherwise know the importance of quality dedicated owners. That's our goal.

For those that are new, my advice is to make yourself known. Post quality threads, play exhibition games, and get to know the guys all over the site. Most of all, have fun!

    Thanks guys!

I think we should consider 24 teams or more.

Well, I think 24 would be ideal but 16 would be acceptable. Bottom line, whatever the number, you want guys that will see it through and have a few back-ups just in case some don't.

Right now we have 24 signed up. At this point, I am more inclined to go with 20 for the league with 4 alternates. The sign-up is open until Sunday night 5:00 P.M. PST. We'll see were we are at that point.

As I said in another post, we want to make sure we get owners that are going to FINISH the season. All 16 weeks. The only way to make sure it's a success is to bank on those we know, or with respect to the new guys, those that have been reccomended by those we know and show a real interest in the league.

We want quality not quantity. If you guys are new to LG, I want you to show your interest. Playing exhibition games and entering the results in our exhibition scoreboard is a great way to get to know some of the guys here and indicate your dedication.

Exactly, because with new people it is usually 50/50. Some will turn out be be really reliable, post a lot, and join more leagues. Some will join the league, be reliable for a few weeks, and than disappear. I say we keep this first season to a number like 16-20 and than we will get a better grasp of who all is super dedicated....especially if we have quite a few new people. Than if it goes really well Season 2 we could have 20-25 and on and on.

I agree w/ you both completely. I say the alternates should have to compete in a certain amount of exhibition games to be considered for the season two expansion. Set this season at 16 or 20 then go from there.

USN, LG has been too accomodating with "newbies" as of late and it has come back to bite them in the arse. I think that is why the statements are being made.

Trust me, it's pretty easy here to NOT be considered a newb. Just posting and playing is all you have to do.

Like I said though, by being nice lately to most newcomers, the leagues have been going through some turmoil. Thus, the need for proven, dedicated owners ;)

I just didn't want you thinking it's all that bad and why these comments are being made. The last month or two have been pretty rough with non-proven owners quitting the leagues or not-playing their games.

We are nice for the most part

I was actually just busting balls. Trust me, I know how hard it is to run an online league. [shamelessplug]Ever hear of OOTP baseball? I run an online league for that software over at www.trueleaguebaseball.com. I know what a pain it can be.[/shamelessplug]

Shush and I have talked back and forth, and I have no doubt that this will be a great league to be a part of.

The good thing is, we still have some time before the season starts. If some of the new guys really want in this league it will be evident. Just play exhibition games and work on testing out the various settings.

I think we'll get some more sign-ups this weekend.

Hey Smokedogg! The ESPN league is not a league for those that didn't get in the Madden league. If you signed up for Madden that's it. The goal for both leagues is to have people in there that are actually fans of the game. Neither league wants to have a situation where some of its members are bashing the game.

You will most likely get in the Madden league if you signed up. If it's ESPN you prefer, you are more than welcome to sign up here. However, it's one or the other.

I know, I know. I have tried, but for some reason I just like playing Madden a little more this year. Maybe since I play NCAA too much. I do have to admit that I am really starting to like ESPN again...after it sat down for a while collecting dust. Anyways, when are we going to play Linuxx....I need to get a Win in my stats..:p

Thanks for the honest response Shush.

I'm suprised your "Reliability Meter" hasn't already fallen.

Actually, from reading the few posts that you have submitted you seem to be a stand-up guy. Good Luck in the league and get out there and meet some of the other members. This is a fun place to be part of. ;)
