A shootout is not enough for me to judge the game. I dont know how it could be judged from a 3 minute mode. However I like what I see, lets just hope the full version is the same way.

who is Judging anything? everyone is posting that they like the demo....

3 minutes?? wow there is a rematch option

I would like to compare it to the 2k one , but wait there isn't one

I like that EA released the shootout only as it gives us all a chance to get used to the control changes...

The manual deke's are fun, graphics are sick. It's somewhat difficult to score for a change, but some of the goals I got with manual deke today vs VA, wooo oh man, awesome.

man oh man, the stick control is the best thing to happen to hockey since online play! I'm loving the shoot outs with this. I dont know how this will play in regular play hockey but in shoot outs it's awesome.

Graphics are incredible, and the presentation is also the best ive seen.

Fu'cking eh EA, where are your online leagues!

Seriously, what's the deal @ EA? Why in God's name would they choose not to have online leagues? I thought the idea was to steal marketshare from 2K  I think they are taking a big risk by waiting. My guess is 2K will make big strides in their 08 ver. and EA will once again be in a fight for marketshare. If you think about it, 2K started the stick control with their LT RStick move. Though EA has brought it to the forefront this season, my guess is this will be the norm for hockey games going forward. Once that happens, EA better be on the league bandwagon.

While EA's stick control is a big move, I want intelligent AI. AI in 2K's world is Artificial Interference. From what I have read, 2K has done NOTHING to improve this  I have my fingers crossed that EA has done something about this issue. Manual interference can be controled when playing people you know but when the AI is programed to cheat, I lose interest.

It's a shame when a game is so crappy that it forces you to drop out of a league. 2K is forcing me in that direction

EA said from the earliest reports that they were going to focus on offline play so this is nothing new, what you just said above is perfect for us! let EA be in a market share dogfights , consumers win... I want these guys to fight it out every single release and we are the winners...

I hope that EA has leagues next edition , I will be dying to play in leagues again by then!

but enough of that , what do you think of it Mike?

Hey, I'm a hockey fan first and fore most. I bought NHL 02 then 2k3-2k7 because they were the first online and had far superiour online experince. EA is doing a bold and wonderful thing this year and i love them for it because i love hockey! As fun as this is though, i will play 99.999% of my hockey online, and in leagues. Hopefully EA's next version will allow us to be creative like we were for 2k6 360

Try not to make it an EA vs 2k thing, 2k has given us 3+ years of industray leading hockey and leaguegaming wouldn't be here if it wasn't for them
