Of course i just copied the nfl schedule...there would be no point in dragging out this season to 17 weeks when we could finish it in 8 or fewer

I doubt we'll follow the actual order of their schedule either.

Most likely, Tris10 will just input the teams we are supposed to play for each team and then the computer script will spit out a schedule that works.

The key there would be that he'll need to write something in there to space out our 6 division games so that we don't play the same team twice in one week.

Maybe play one division rival in weeks 2/3/4 and then again in 6/7/8.

 

Sounds kind of complicated why dont we just copy, paste, and use the exact schedules? Sorry im just a tad lost...

 

The NFL bye weeks prevent us from doing it in the exactly the same order.

I'll give you my schedule for an example.

The Rams have their bye in week 5, and play Green Bay in week 7 (which is the Ram's 6th game on the schedule).

If we went with the exact schedule, I'd be playing Green Bay as my 2nd game of week 3:

week 1: NYG/SF
week 2: Sea/Ari
week 3: Atl/GB

Green Bay has their bye in week 8 though, and the Rams are their 7th opponent. If we went went with the exact order of the NFL schedule, they'd need to play the Rams in week 4, but that can't happen because I have them in week 3. Here's how the GB schedule would look if we did that:

week 1: Min/Det
week 2: Ari/Chi
week 3: Sea/KC
week 4: StL/Minn

It's not as simple as just playing them in the exact order as the NFL since the schedules aren't going to match up.

Instead, we'll have to use a custom schedule (but with the actual NFL opponents) to make it work. I'll leave it to Tris10 to explain exactly, but when putting this stuff into the database, it has to work out exactly perfect or you'll get errors.

 

Why do we need to play by weeks and program all this junk to get our schedules...??? Is it not possible just to make a list of the teams we need to play and when we input the scores it will show the scores for the matchups? Maybe just have everyone on some kind of honor system where they get 2 games done a week errr something...???


I don't know it just seems like we are making this way too complicated....btw i know if you dont get the programming correct you will get errors... c++ is the biggest b**** in the world

 

Sure, we could just list the teams and have everyone have at it, but I think Tris10 likes the weekly schedule thing.

If you remember season 2, or was it season 1, in NHL2k3, we didn't have a weekly schedule. You just played everyone twice, whenever you could. It's much harder to keep everyone focused and playing in the league if you don't have a weekly schedule. Some people (like me) will want to play all 16 games in the first week. hehe.

Others, will struggle to keep up with a 2 games/week pace.

 

Well anywho i guess since im not in charge of the NFL league I'll just let you guys worry about it and just forget it!!!

im in another league

and we ran the real 03 schedule

and played 1 game per week

everything worked out perfectly

the bye weeks even themselves out cause 4 teams have a bye week from wee 3 to week 10(somewhere around there)

it all works out in the long run cause in week 17(the last week of the season....

we ALL play our last game

this commish better not mess things up cause he wants things to be done "his way"

 

With all the other league that will be starting up around the same time as what the bye weeks would start in the NFL League I think it would be beneficial to use it as a catch up week if there is anyone who is getting behind. And it would only extend the regular season by one week and we wouldn't have to try and re-work the nfl schedule.

 

i say take 2 weeks to get used to 2k4

then when we start the league (week 3 of reg nfl season)

we play 2 games per week for ONLY the first 2 weeks to catch up to the actual nfl schedule

its funner to play along with your team week by week

than just to play to play

this would be fun but would really really really drag out the season...why do that when we can play another season with all the time we say....
more games = more fun

 

Latdogg is going to set it up for a 8 week season, 2 games per week.

If we use the real NFL schedule, our first season won't be over until end of January with playoffs.

I'd rather see a more brisk pace and have 2 completed seasons before the real guys are finished (and our thoughts turn to baseball and other XBL games).

Don, check our hockey league.

We set it up for 3 games per week, 10 weeks, with 5 games each half as "wild card" games which could be played at any time during the first/second half.

The large majority of the league had 20-30 games finished by the 3rd week of the season.

I don't think anyone will have a problem fitting in 2 games a week of NFL2k4. If they don't keep up, then they likely won't be given a team for season 2.
