After watching some of the videos and talking with a number of people who started conversations, it would appear that submissions have become our first hot topic. I will first give my input here; Submission fighting is a very real tactic in MMA both online and in life. While I can see both sides of the argument on submission fighting here is my solution: The ground game is very real, if you despise it learn to escape quicker or block take downs. Submission artists are going to attempt to make you tap out once the ground game is on. While I can see the chain attempt submissions being an issue, this is where I feel it needs to be addressed for online play. Please everyone on both sides comment, I will toss up a poll single choice where in 3 options will all count for create a rule and one for no rule creation.
As much as I hate submissions it is apart of the game and apart of mma I don't believe there should be any change to the rule
i think the 2 pass rule is good. Submissions are definitely a part of the game and I am one that uses it as a major part of my game, but spamming submissions are different and annoying.
what do you mean by "After a failed attempt: 2+ Passes must be made before another attempt" ? how about as an alternative - repeat submission attempts are permitted so long as either of the following requirements are met: 1. no more than 2 attempts are permitted in the same position consecutively 2. another 2 attempts can be made so long as the players change position at least once and attempt the next 2 sub attempts in a different position (ie. cannot return to the same position to attempt another 2 submission attempts) also - will we be making a similar poll to spamming take down attempts or even clinching? I don't have a problem with it so much if that player has fought hard and worn his opponent down - then it's only natural that you might want to go for the sub.....but if the whole fight is nothing but take down or clinch attempts from one player...that will just be annoying and will deter those who watch video footage...imo...?
takedown spamming can easily be blocked as long as you dont lag. also two passes essentially means you have to make two more moves before a second submission. i personally like that idea the most
Has anyone else had this happen to them? I was fighting a guy and beating him pretty soundly on our feet, he finally managed to get me in a tai clinch and suddenly he kneed me to the body like 30 times in 10 seconds, couldn't block parry or transition out of the clinch. Is this some kind of a custom controller with a turbo or something? Just kept kneeing me at super speed until I got tko'd. Lol
This brings to light something that the league can benefit from between fights....in general we should be doing this on our own but early stages in the league...might help... setup sparring teams for practice (aka training camp) with champ and contenders as captains...and focus on techniques....the captains benefit from directing what techniques they think can use improvement to help in their fight for the belt...fighters gain by added practice with higher ranked fighters i just don't want to see guys get frustrated due to poor results and not gaining skill ...opinions/thoughts? Bp
Great idea. Also, I was whining about submissions but as said earlier, I just need to get better at defending it. It's annoying when u lose in the first round to a submission and don't even get to fight. Sucks to get online for 1 minute. Maybe no first round submissions lol. But yeah training camps would be great for us guys that don't play a lot
