According to recent releases there are going to four game modes that we will have available to us to choose from if we get things going for Halo. We want your opinion on which of these modes you'd like to see be utilized here on League Gaming. You can vote for multiple options and we will be taking the communities voice into consideration while the creation of this league is being discussed.
Honestly I think slayer,CTF, and Strongholds should all be grouped together. I prefer Objective game types for anything team related just because you need teamwork to win where slayer it is not as important, same goes with breakout. Breakout is a very different mode for halo. My suggestion is the closer you make this league to a esports league like Halo Championship Series, MLG, etc. the more popular it will become I think.
@Tiddus I think something like a point system would be good for this type of league. Have a leader board for each of the 4 modes and then a total point leader board. Make a balanced scheduled that each team needs to play "x" amount of games (depending on # Teams) of each mode. Something like 1 or 2 matches vs each team depending on home may teams sign up.
Not sure who will be running these but I'd guess that it will be a "team sign up", where people will enter as a team, not draft players?
yea no draft is good, because you really dont know the skill level yet and this would make everything complicated. I am looking forward into playing.
You could also possibly do a 3-game series for each league "game". For instance, one slayer, one CTF, and one breakout/stronghold/swat/etc game against an opponent. Just throwing it out there since everybody has a different game type preferences. This would give a fair representation of a team's ability over multiple game types, keep everybody happy, etc.
You would need to make sure the map set up is MLG based as well to make sure integrity of competition halo is there. BR/DMR start on each map, pistol secondary, with increased damage modifier (not much cause H5 is pretty stout on this as it is), and no radar. The radar thing doesn't matter much as it is anyways because it barely works in this game lol. Plus players move so fast that its hard for players to radar hawk an entire game.
1. MLG is no longer supporting halo, the competitive stucture is HCS (Halo championship series). 2. The AR/pistol is the competitive start for the game. The BR is too forgiving. 3. What you play in Team Arena is what the competitive settings are currently. This is to keep the competitive game as close to what the "casuals" play for ease of access. In iterations past, the competitive settings were too different than what the casuals played and it hurt viewership. 4. I cant stress enough that you dont want different settings . Take the settings straight from team arena, thats what the "MLG" teams are playing. 5. As far as maps/gametypes go: Copy the HCS map pool. Randomly select from said map pool.
Were did you find AR/pistol will be the competitive start? From everywhere I've look HCS has yet release any gametype/gameplay settings for halo 5. I highly doubt they don't use BR start. I could be wrong but I believe between MLG and HCS they have always used BR start. I don't see that changing.
Never mind I did see the pros have decided on the AR/pistol start as they think it promotes more map movement and competitiveness. As much as I dontlike that, I would say we should follow suit.
