So for those that wanna play ESPN, whats the plan?

You guys have at least a dozen LG "regulars", probably closer to 16 when it would come down to it. That would make for a nice league size for ESPN's site... maybe 4 divisions of 4?

The problem, as accountblocked and others have found, is in actually running a league. It's not as easy as it looks. Getting people to play games and stay on top of their schedule is tough sometimes and you often have to be the "bad guy" in order to keep the league moving along.

its prety obvious who would play games and who just gets excited about joining and then loses interest after their first drubbing.

If we start another one and use PM's to get the players we want Im sure it would go fine.

No.. only when it is quiet enough to hear a pin drop and someone starts laughing really loud.

 

We can have a public thread about it but I agree we should be very selective as to who is in.

 

That's the whole trick. Getting people to play their games, despite having a losing record and getting torn up in the game. The other challenge is getting people to play with teams that aren't named the Eagles, Patriots, Cowboys, etc... When you combine the two (an owner going 0-16 with the Arizona Cardinals) it makes it nearly impossible to motivate them to get their games in.

I think if we get enough folks that are dedicated to ESPN we could make the 1 game/week work. I think starting the league we had just before Madden came out might've been a mistake.

What is hard is that those of us with families have a hard time fitting in a game withing the 3 or 4 day deadline. I know that NoTyme had issues with his son being in the hospital, and nothing comes before family...esp. a stupid video game. I say we find out who's interested and get one going...looks like we have around 19 interested now if you look at XBJ's post.

I am going to create a thread by the end of the week where those that are interested in an ESPN league can post all their thoughts and comments. The league would be run using the ESPN site. However, each participant will have a team logo and manger designation here at LG. Additionally, your participation will be reflected in the reliability meters here.

We want people who are really interested in playing the whole season to sign-up. I am going to Commish it unless someone else wishes to express their interest. I don't mind either way. We just want to make sure that everyone in the league is dedicated to seeing it through.
