so you dont think there should be memorial? Again I dont think its a religious question. It has to do with a religion yes but the question is do you put something up that is directly offensive to the attacks of 9/11.. IT's the same reason in most parts that you cant build a strip club right next to church, mosque, temple (Place of worship).. It's offensive.. I think you're right about buidling in Churchs, Mosques, temples and everything else being the fabric of america. We set it up that way. Everybody has freedom of religion... if we limit one, we have to limit the other.. I would agree.. But this has nothing to do with religion... Some make it into being about religion but its not.. It's in direct contrast to memorial where many died and the perpertrators did it all in the name of islam.. Its just not the right place imo.. Again I would leave it up to the familys of the victims... if they're not offended then I shouldnt be either..
I can see what you are saying but the fact that a church could go up with no problem but a mosque can't, makes it about religion. Fact remains that it was extremists that brought the towers down, and IT'S TWO BLOCKS AWAY FROM GROUND ZERO(they have 2 mosques 4 blocks away). You also can't leave it up to the victims of 9/11. I'm sorry but just because they suffered a terrible tragedy does not give them access to tell people what they can and can't put in New York city.
Here's a map i found of its exact proposed location It's 2 blocks for the record. NOT on the site itself. Park Place and Broadway
Park Place and Broadway!? No wonder they're building a mosque. The cost to put up houses and hotels is astronomical. Once they pass Go, we'll all be fine.
Why in the world is this even a real topic of discussion or nation wide problem.. If it cant be viewed from The memorial? Next question is .. if there are already 2 mosque in the area why build another... Just a few questions... but it makes no sense in general on both sides of the coin.. Both arguements have flaws..
Those are sideways questions. I personally think they shouldn't build any new religious institutions anyway. But thats not the question. The question do they have the right to? The answer to that is clearly a YES based on the American constitution. So why is everyone getting upset?
A) They are somewhat tiny. B) It's New York City lol. I would assume that you could have two grocery stores on the same block and still have both of them be extremely successful. Same goes for religion. After all, religion has to be one of the more successful business' that you could go in to.
If they allow this to be built so close to Ground Zero then we should build a whole bunch of George W. Bush statues all over the middle east...!!
Well if your asking a question to ones individual opinion , not ones legal right. My answer to that is "No". Not cuz its near Ground Zero, but because all religions are products of man and hold our species backwards rather then moving it forward. But that's another argument But back to the story, this isn't a public opinion decision. So you may disagree for personal reasons against what they are doing, but you have to respect their rights. It's the American thing to do.
