ESPN NBA 2K5 Tips &a Anybody have any helpful hints for the newbies? One thing I have noticed is I prefer the "2k5 view" to the default "broadcast" camera angle. The other trick is practicing free throws!
Will we be using the default camera angle for the league? If it's like other ESPN games, you can't have a different camera angle from your opponent. One thing I like about the new angle is that it's more like the old school BBall games of the Genesis/Playstation era.... side/angled type view. Last year, the end camera (whatever it's called) was the default and IMO was a bit arcadish. Every change of position the camera had to swing around and there would be a slight pause in the action (like a football game whenever there's a turnover). You can't navigate under the basket very well (hard to tell if you're under the hoop, or in front, or out of bounds), and the football passing kinda got out of hand going end to end every play. I think the side camera type of views help cut down on all 3 of those things.
When you cnahge camera angls it only does it for your screen. So I assume you can do your own camera. I personall like the 2k5 camera which is the same as last years.
On ESPN NBA, it allows each user to set their own camera angle. For me, the 2K5 angle is only one to use. You get the best view of the court to run your offense. The only downside is occasionally on steals from inbounds passes by your own goal the camera is being reversed as your shooting usually. For free throws I found that using my middle fingers on the triggers was more stable and reliable than my index fingers. Everytime I did it with my index fingers when I pushed the X button one of my fingers would always slightly move causing me to miss.
Rk, the triggers don't really mean much on this year's game. Usually I don't even push them in, and I still make it.
Lol, that is because you are Shush. But honestly, I use them on and off half and half. And I make them more without than with.
That's crazy. Kinda sucks too. Makes it even less challenging. But I make damn near all my free throws, so I am just gonna keep on doing it the way I described above:wink:
Yeah. That's a good question. I play on superstar and if the trigger is a little off left or right I usually miss. :-&
Nope, All-Star or Superstar, both the same. I make about 19/20 free throws on average, so I don't miss many myself either. If I do, it is when I am hitting A to get through the cut-scenes, and hit it one too many times.
Its kinda cheap but the hop step is very effective. also if you work the ball around the perimeter and after reversing it then throw it in to the big man hell either be wide open for the dunk or have a little room to take the J
If your good on defense and can quickly position yourself all you have to do is press Y and the Hop step will be a charge. The hop step is something that can be effective if used strategically, but if you try to use it every time down the court expect a lot of Charge calls to come your way...that's if your playing someone who knows what they are doing
Thanks for the camera suggestion. I needed that. It was hard to pass the ball on offense with the broadcast view. It was a little strange when the screen flipped around, but the second game I got used to it. I use the big original controller for Xbox, but I've ALWAYS used my middle fingers for the triggers. That's how I've always held the controller Yes, I too miss free throws if I don't center the triggers. I thought I had upped the difficulty, but then had to change it in game since it didn't take.
In any case, I'm using the broadcast (Default 2K5). My headset's messed up, but I'm still able to listen to my opponent via TV.
Juji told me to play 24/7 mode. Anyone else playing this offline mode? I guess there are challenges and you build a character up. Could be great training for those new to the game. I'm going to check this out. Building a character always seems like a great way to learn how to play. Kinda like Links.
that's all i been doing in playing the 24/7 mode. my guy is pretty built up i think we should do some 24/7 matches and post the results. if anyone wants to take me on one on one let me know.
It is great training IMO, its kind of cool also because you can take the character that you build up online and play against other players one on one. Playing 24/7 helped out my defensive skills alot.
