Actually, it was Sony that bought the exclusive rights to the FIA Formula One license (4 year deal). However, according to this article it's for Europe only, not the US: http://ps2.ign.com/articles/424/424454p1.html?fromint=1 I doubt that EA would make a game that they can't sell worldwide though, so we're probably hosed for the XBox. The PC version of F1 99-02 is actually pretty good (with a high end PC, wheel/pedal combo, and some of the user mods/updates available). Here's the latest PS2 game for F1: http://www.ps2home.co.uk/formula_one_04.htm
yes, it was shipped on the 22nd so depending on your game store they should have it.. i called mine and tomorrow is my delivery date so tomorrow afternoon i will be immersed in the world of indy. whooopi basil should be fun though
Tris, I believe it was always going to be 19.95 or whatever. At least from my understanding of things I've read. Here is an EBGames link to confirm (well, 19.99 anyway) http://ebgames.com/ebx/product/241499.asp
Wow, didn't realize this game came out this week. I'm still on the fence on buying it. While I enjoy racing (especially on ovals), the price point scares me for a new game. I also don't like the fact that with CodeMasters' games you can't save to a memory card. I checked the back of the box at EBGames.com and there is no memory card support. Most games I will take to my girlfriends house to play and then continue at home later in the evening. However, when TOCA came out I was really disappointed in that I had to have two seperate saves (one for each box). I'm very intrested in the reviews for this game. I still may pick it up since it is only 19.99 (that's probably worth the online play, alone).
My bro is getting it for me. I should be playing it around 10pm est if anyone else is gonna have it tonight...actually after the TOCA 2 league play i should be playing Indy. The PC demo of this game sucked me in. I love the view in the driver seat.
Ok for all those Canadians eager to pick it up... I travelled to EB today and I was told that they receive their shipment of this title tomorrow. And yes it'll be $29.99 CAD because Codemasters is trying to establish a market for their games in North America (UK developer), as the game is full price over there.
I decided to pick this game up and Tris10 it is 19.99 USD and this game is a blast. I can't wait to get online and race with friends. Not a big fan of OptiMatch with racing games, cause you never know how people are going to treat you when you make a mistake and take them out So, if you got this game or are getting this, add me to your list
I will be picking it up next week. I'm super busy this weekend. I will be all over it next weekend so you have a week to practice some setups and kick my ass  GENTLEMAN>>>>START YOUR ENGINES!
I heard its a good buy for the price, but there are serious issues with it. Mainly when online, you have to know who you are racing with because, the dumbasses will come out of the woodwork bumping tires, and taking you out of the race. One brief bump tire to tire and you are gone. Not complaining as that is very realistic, but I think random jackasses will kill the online experience, so just keep track of who is in your room. The voice online can be interrupted if AI is in directly front or behind you, the game doesn't allow you to hear the actual closest person in that situation. But for $20, i'd hook it up if I wasn't addicted to RSC2 still...
I want to pick this one up, but man i've got more games than i can play now, and when NCAA Football 2005 comes out i won't playing anything but that for awhile.=P~
awwwww crap, this game is all ovals. I thought this was the same series as Paul Tracy. Oh well, time for it to collect dust!
ROFLMAO! Jeez Tris10, and your the one that complains about people not reading the details! We've talked a lot about some of the games details in this thread, so maybe you should have read a few of them before rushing out to buy a game. IRL is always all about ovals, the series with Paul Tracy that you thought this game was about, is Champ Car (or CART), which has a mixture of city and oval racing. I'm sorry you don't enjoy the action on the ovals, but it should bring you a bit of fun for the next little while.
