Trying to garner support to have Martin Brodeur return to New Jersey for the 2014-15 season. I made a Facebook page, I'm high-tech like that. Check it out if you get the chance, it'd be greatly appreciated. Thanks, LG. https://www.facebook.com/30moreformarty Fun Fact: Despite posting historic numbers at the NHL level for over two decades, Brodeur had atrocious stats in his 32 games with the Utica Devils back in the 1992-93 season. Brodeur only won about 40% of his games and never managed to record a shutout at the AHL level. His GAA was over 4 on the season, and he had a SV% hovering right around 88%. His numbers vastly improved with his call-up to the NHL Devils the following season.
The league avg is around 91.3%. Why would you want an old below avg goalie on the roster. I get he's a legend, but it comes to an end for everyone.
Because if he leaves, what do you think they're going to replace him with. A below average, probably old goalie. It's not like the devils have a plethora of NHL ready goalies. It's Marty and Schneider. If Brodeur leaves and Schneider tears something three games in we're gonna be really fucked.
You would be really fucked if it was Brodeur that had to replace Schneider. He is no longer the great goalie he was, it is time to move on give Wedgewood or Kincaid a shot. Schneider is the future for NJ, time to accept that.
The Devils could trade a 3rd round pick for a nice replacement tender if something happened to Schneider
I'm a Devils fan, and Brodeur needs to go. I love him, always will, but anyone who knows anything knows that his time is up. Quit before it gets embarrassing.
Schneider and Wedgewood would be a perfectly fine tandem. Obviously Wedgewood lacks experience, but there's only one way to get that.
Brodeur is being ignorant about the situation. He claims he wants to come back, but only to a team that will play him more than he has played this season in NJ, and only to a contending team. The fact that he thinks he can find a team that is a stanley cup contender, and be their starting goalie, just proves he needs to go.
This is incorrect information. The New Jersey Devils have only won two cups in the last 15 seasons, not three. The Detroit Red Wings have won three. The Chicago Blackhawks have won two. No other teams has won multiple cups in the last 15 seasons. I say seasons because we lost one season over the last 16 years. And Marty still sucks. Just like the entire filthy ass state of New Jersey.
