Uh-oh. Saw this on a NHL blog too, so it's making the rounds. If it's NOT true, I would think 2K would release a statement soon (Monday maybe?) just to defuse the situation ASAP before the rumor gets out of hand.
Hopefully it isn't death it is just what I suggested. Hopefully they are just taking a year off to start over fresh and do something groundbreaking like BAP and the EASHL for EA. If they are dead, that gives zero incentive for EA to outdo themselves every year. It will become Madden.
Just thinking back in history if there is anything that led to this it would be Kush porting the xbox version of NHL 2k6 over to the 360. 2k6 on Xbox was I think the peak of the series, and the ported 360 version to me was the biggest piece of ****. That threw off the development cycle for 2k7 which cause them to release a **** game. 2k7 being so terrible made them have to completely rebuild for 2k8 which wasn't that much better. VC taking over the total development gave us a bare bones version of 2k9, and I think 2k10 is what they were hoping 2k9 was supposed to be. It all leads back to the 360 version of the game with that turco on the cover.
there's a weird article about the programmers of nhl2k3 misspelling and mispronouncing some of the player names in the game such as: Pa-veel Burr-hey Kats Sundin (instead of Mats) etc. the rest of the article is on the xbox forums: http://forums.xbox.com/29841326/ShowPost.aspx has anyone else noticed these?
