Here is a question to discuss. In the event that you are a GM for an AHL team, and have a game scheduled, and you are then called up to the NHL to play for them at the same time, however, your two AGMs are absent, and unavailable, what course of action are you to take? Do you stay, set up your AHL game as the head management (no owner on this team), and play the scheduled game, or, do you not attempt to get the AHL game together, forfeit the AHL game, play your NHL game, and take the loss for the entire team?

I am in the opinion that if you are management for the AHL team, it is your responsibility to continue that game, especially since you are the only one that can do that, and it effects players and the team, whose needs should come before your own.

I understand that there is always another side to the coin. Discuss please.

P.S. Also, before it is stated, yes, I am aware this is my first season, and that I have only recently started the league. Being a new person should not stop someone from being able to bring these issues up. Come on now. I may be new, but I want this league to succeed just like the majority of others playing here today.

My question remains the same. Some AHL games can be at 10:30, And may last, especially if started late, past the NHL game start time of 11, and so the choice is still there. Set up AHL game as AHL, or play as ECU for NHL?

That's a half hour in between games, I fail to see the valid point. If the AHL is at 10:30 they shouldn't just not play to ECU at 11. May I ask which one did it?

Being that you're new here I will take that in mind; however, you need to remember one thing- Managers don't get paid actual money. In 6 days you are unable to imagine the BS that entails being management in this league. Blame the 16 other guys on his roster that couldn't get 6 players together or find ECU's. That's not a management issue, that's an organizational issue.

But yeah, blame management rather than realizing anyone could have gotten 6s together.

Play the AHL game. Also in that regard if you really need to ECU for the NHL and the game isn't going to start on time there is always the AHL TC. Where someone will be willing to play.

Even during the quiet times, being an LG manager is pretty much like this:

You know something horrible is just about to happen.

In the situation you've outlined, there are multiple approaches for the AHL GM:
    • Notify the other AHL team's mgmt that you will need extra time. This buys you an extra total 15 minutes to finish the NHL game.
    • Notify your players that they need to gather themselves for the game. They're already scheduled and all the info they need to send the club challenge is on the game summary.
    • Send one of your players to ECU instead. A well-run organization will know who is available and will schedule ECU's in advance whenever possible.
LG is currently structured under the premise of NHL ownership of AHL clubs. NHL > AHL.

Hopefully LG will switch to an affiliation model instead, where NHL is peered with AHL but is not superior. Even then, a non-asshole AHL GM will take every reasonable step to help out NHL.

This. I have a few people on my team that can do that. Just ask them or ask anyone who is in the game that has a brain. Most of us are adults (I think) so it's not that hard.

To be fair this is a valid situation as maybe even CHL Managers might go through it. I would honestly take 2 routes to resolve this.....ask NHL to look for another ECU while i gathered players and tried to find an ECU to replace me aswell. Basicly this covers both bases so to speak and if a team is properly run it shouldn't be an issue.

However while people are correct players could gather themselves but then you run into a possible situation of a player playing more then the limit.
