I like the idea of 3 captains as well. I would also propose that the AHL get a salary cap increase. I do understand that with there being 3 leagues next season that some salaries will not be as high in the AHL next season. But I think a cap increase maybe to just 5 million below the NHL would be very beneficial when trying to build a roster since we will not have as many cheap TC players randomly assigned next season therefor not as big a pool of "cheap" players to pull from. Just food for thought is all.
Yeah I totally agree! I thought they were only 5 million ahead of us but I think you are correct. 30 million would be absolutely perfect!!
depending on the player, i don't think the contract on a person would matter, a good player will get a big contract regardless.
That is true @PerkinsPancakeHouse but for example there were some ok players getting huge contracts this season in the AHL which made it tough..
It doesn't matter what you set the cap at, $100 million or $10 million will result in the same thing since all managers can bid on all players. The probable structure will be 35/25/25, like it reflects on the Xbox side of the site, which has been proven to be an effective method thus far. There was a lot of talk in the off-season about increases and decreases, and the end result was the simple fact that prices would either inflate or deflate depending on the cap. The cap simply dictates the final number, not the talent worth. Tagging @eMLBCommish @MCDONALD l19l @Hadji @MikeeTeeze if they wish to chime in here and provide information I otherwise do not have.
CHL = Smaller AHL roster. Meaning more money to spread around to less players. A good GM should be able to budget or have a strategy coming into bidding. If an AHL GM wants to get 3-4 guys over 5 mill well they are just setting themselves up for failure.
Also a valid point. Everything at times is relative. I can confirm this is the overall intention. Increase the salary cap we increase the overall average player salary.
Valid points all thank you for at least having a look. It does all make sense for sure when put into perspective. I guess now that we have a good talent base maybe the NHL teams won't be bidding on AHL talent to bring up to their own roster (for the record this DID NOT happen to me) But I saw it happen to plenty of other GM's. And maybe prices will stay at a manageable level next season.
