We are about 30 minutes away from the 24th installment of the LGHL, LGAHL and LGCHL. Coming into tonight's games, I want to touch base on a ton things to ensure this season is successful and fun prior to us coming into NHL 17, and our big 25th Anniversary.

    Timelines & Deadlines

Unfortunately due to us delaying Season 22 for input delay, we have a shortened summer season. The game plan is to condense our off-season timeline to try and increase our playing time and hopefully end up with three full 81 game seasons.

    Week One
    June 26th-June 30th

    Week Two
    July 3rd-July 7th

    Week Three
    July 10th-July 14th
    **Deadline to request a Trade**

    Week Four
    July 17th-July 21
    **Trade Deadline**
    **Waiver Deadline**
    Conditional Waivers

    Week Five
    July 24th-July 28th

    Week Six
    July 31th-Aug 4th
    *Final Week of The Season*

Trade requests are limited to players whom are on multi year deals(and have yet to use their request during their contract)

    Playoffs, Round #1
    Aug 7th-11th

    Playoffs, Round #2

    Aug 14th-Aug 18th

    Playoffs, Round #3

    Aug 21st-Aug 25th

    Playoffs, Final Round

    Aug 28th-Sept 1st

    Participation and Dedication

Summer seasons tend to have issues with the level of commitment we see from our players. As a reminder we have a two season ban MINIMUM policy which makes players removed this season ineligible for play come NHL 17 and S25.

There has been a MAJOR push from our managers to put LGHL policy in place to better enforce our ban policy and remove the negative effects the ban buyout policy has had on the League. That will be a major item for review come this season moving into S25.

Keep in mind, the only level of commitment we as a League requires from you is 90 minutes a week. That is only three games....

Keep that in mind and help us ensure this season is fun and the games are actually played.

    Rule Review And Changes

Season 24 doesn't have many changes to our rules. This season we took a different approach and decided we would clean up our wording in certain areas to make things easier for all.

Below is a list of "must know" rules for both players and managers :

Article Two : Scheduling and Game Night Procedures
    http://leaguegaming.com/forums/inde...-scheduling-and-game-night-procedures.223740/

    Player Info
    • As a player, you have to give a MINIMUM of four games a week availability. If you don't you can be scheduled for games you aren't available for. Reasoning: We aren't going to handcuff managers when it comes to scheduling. Not posting availability at all, or only giving three games can causes issues for the players whom are active and want to participate this season.
    • If additional time has not been requested, game MUST start by the ten minute after the "official" game time mark.
    • Additional time can be requested any time up to and prior to the ten minute after the "official" game time mark. Additional time is for server issues, internet issues, etc.
    • Players whom lag out prior to the opening face OF THE FIRST period, do NOT need to take a lag out penalty.
    • If a player lags out at time AFTER the opening faceoff of the first period, is required to take a lag out penalty upon return.
    • Player lag out during the game = finish the period off. Goalie lag out during the game = restart at the NEXT WHISTLE. Multi-player lag out(one team OR a combo of both teams)=restart at the NEXT WHISTLE.
    Manager Info
    • Your lines are due Sunday at 8 PM est FOR THE ENTIRE WEEK.
    • You can claim a forfeit after the ten minute mark past the original game time mark. That can only occur if additional time is not required and or the other team does NOT have six skaters in the lobby. If a player lags out at time AFTER the opening faceoff of the first period, is required to take a lag out penalty upon return.
    • Player lag out during the game = finish the period off. Goalie lag out during the game = restart at the NEXT WHISTLE. Multi-player lag out(one team OR a combo of both teams)=restart at the NEXT WHISTLE.
    • If a player lags out and cannot return, YOU MUST USE and ECU, NOT A ROSTER player to finish the game

If you reschedule a game, the EXACT same line up must be used OR ECU's have to be used. This is due to scheduling restrictions(3 a week)
    • If you signed up before June 19th at 9 pm (as a V or A) you will have no call up restrictions applied to you, EVEN if you don't receive a bid in CHL bidding. Reasoning : No sense in restricting a player's eligibility when the players passes through bidding.
    • In the NHL and AHL, whatever position you are listed as for the season is the only position you can play. Only exception is, forwards can player ANY forward position, and Defenders can player either side;left or right.
    • When you are picked up in bidding, you have the ability to accept the length of your own contract. The only exception is Managers can give you a one year deal, without approval.
    • Veteran players, are players whom have completed 27 games in the LGHL.
    • Amateur players, are players whom have completed a minimum of ten games in the AHL or fifteen games in the LGCHL. The only exception is players whom are drafted in the NHL Entry draft.
    • Prospects are brand new members to LG or players whom have yet to complete 10 AHL games or 15 CHL games.
    • Players whom signed up after AHL Bidding(June 19th at 9 PM) are eligible to be randomly assigned. When randomly assigned, the players are issued an RA status, and also randomly assigned to the AHL TC. The only exception is Veteran players, whom are randomly assigned(RA V) will NOT be randomly assigend to AHL TC. As per the AHL and NHL request, Randomly assigned veterans, will not be eligible for NHL and or AHL full time call up and ECU.
    • During the playoffs, players can ONLY ECU for a MAXIMUM twice during the entire playoffs, and a MAXIMUM of once per round.
    • During the season, players can ONLY ECU a maximum of 8 times a season, for a MAXIMUM of three times a week.
    Management Info
    • In the AHL, when an NHL player is sent down, the AHL team maybe over the roster limit and or salary cap! Communication between teams is KEY for to avoid these issues.
    • Prospects can not be issued mutliyear deals(they are the following season's draft class)
    • Team's can ONLY place a maximum two players at a time on waivers.
    • Teams can ONLY place a claim on a player with the intent of using that player on their active roster.
    • NHL managers can not waiver or make AHL trades. Only the Owner can.
    • Trade deadline is the beginning of week four.
    • Trade compensation must be requested within one week if the original trade and the players whom is involved with compensation MUST be file to be removed.
    • NHL and AHL teams are eligible to resign two players(Maximum)
    • A majority of complaints aren't ruled on until Thursday nights.
    • Appeals can be filed through the action center and are reviewed by the League commissioner.
    • When you receive an alert for a complaint, by clicking on the alert, you will be redirected to the recent action part of the action center.
    • Section Four outlines everything player related.
    Management Info
    • Keep in mind that ineligible player and invalid roster issues, have changed so they are NOT automatic forfeits.
    Future Food For Thought

What does the ECHL mean for LG??

I put together a pretty cool package and series of ideas for how implementation of the ECHL will affect everything we do here. I am still kicking around some other pieces and ideas and I will be presenting this to the community for evaluation near the end of our season.

If you have any ideas, throw them my way.

Death To NHL Media? How Can We Do This Better? Who Wants To See Awards Get More Attention?

Media specifically at the NHL level seems to be at an all time low. With the loss of media members like Brisan(due to new commitments and a lack of appreciation) we have some real issues. Everyone wants to complain about awards not being done and the lack of depth or media coverage for such evens like an annual awards show.

Personally I am near my limit of what I can offer at times, and honestly I am not active enough to do the awards and media for awards any justice. Same goes for All-Star events.

A recent discussion between our media guru @F5 Penguin, we both have agreed that we could more of a presence when it comes to media. Our CHL and AHL levels both have embraced the media stand point which I personal feel has created a less toxic and more exciting atmosphere to play in.

My goal and focus would be to see our awards get the attention they deserve. The actually awards criteria we have in place is second to none. I am confident that will guide our awards committee to make good choices when it comes to our winners each season.

What we need is strong members to step up into the awards committee role.

If you have interest, PLEASE contact @F5 Penguin

Vegas? What Does Vegas Mean To Us?

31 is a shitty number, and it can cause issues. So it leaves us with a few choices... Do we wait until the real NHL hits 32 teams for the ease of a schedule. OR do we get our schedule guy to create a 9 week, 82 game, 31 team schedule that would see teams have a set "night off" each week...

Perhaps the real NHL by the time Vegas hits NHL 18, will have an additional expansion team.
