Ok just some quick observations from playing one game. -game is beautiful and fluid, 60fps makes a big difference -alternate uniforms are in the game now -defensive playmaker is back but i wonder how much time there will be to really use it. Lots of options though. -presentation is improved with Marshall Faulk doing the pre-game intros and at half time you can see replays of the key plays. -field seemed too bright to me, hard to see the routes against the background -on defense you can 'spotlight' an offensive player, but i havent figured out what that actually does yet -no smart routes or offensive line shifting. -screen plays seemed to actually work but maybe i was just lucky
i believe i read it somewhere that you can assign specific db's to certain recievers but i could be dreaming
Correct me if I'm wrong, but couldn't you assign defenders on the last generation Maddens? I thought you could select DBs to cover certain WR's just like the matchups you can set in the basketball games.
Nope. I know in 2k you could do this. In Madden, you had to "flip" the DB's when calling man coverage.
YES - in Madden 05 you could assign a DB to a receiver IF the DB was in a zone coverage. I remember this very well as I used this strategy occasionally against teams with one good receiver.
Ok thats what I must have been thinking about. I remember doing that often against people that would send Randy Moss or T.O. on fly patterns the whole game. I would call a zone and match up my best CB against him all game and have deep safety help.
Ok, here is a big question: The playcalling screens, are they like old Maddens or the newer ones? I hate playing side by side with a friend and being able to see what play they pick. I miss the old screen where 3 plays would be up at once and you had to click "A, X, or B" to select your play.
I dont see any real time weather, it just lets me pick manual where you can adjust the temperature, clouds and wind and the other choice is just "August". Play calling screens are like NCAA, you have 4 plays on your screen and you have to highlite the one you want.. There is the auto-motion thing where they go in motion before the snap like in ncaa but i havent found a way to get 2 guys in motion. I dont see any formation shifting option either.
How about running the ball up the middle, does the RB run around linemen and through holes more realistically or do you still get some of the Mario affect when you hit the back of the line? Also, are receivers more aggressive in going for the ball or do they just fall backwards while a mediocre CB jumps 10 feet in the air for a pick like NCAA?
