Playoff Format

The owners and some bogs have been talking and trying to figure out a playoff format. I figured id take the time to explain some of these formats to you guys as a whole community and see what everyone outside of us is saying.

Option 1: Xbox style only Top 4 make it.

Option 2: Everyone makes it Single Elimination
1v14 2v13 so on and reformatting it so the higher seed always plays the lower. (kinda like the old nhl but only 1 game)

Option 3: Top 8 make it split into 2 groups and b03 all the way.
This option could push an extra couple days into the next week. most of us wanna see 8 teams make it into the next round but coming up with a format for only 1 week is tuff and would require an extra couple days or 3 games to be played in a day.

most of us owners and management don't really care which format is used.
feel free to voice your opinions and if you have any other ideas.

This is a fun league for us all so we wanna get the best format possible! Cheers!

We follow the Xbox format for everything else in LG so it makes the most sense to do whats worked before in IHL as well.

 

Single elimitation, gives everyone a chance and makes the game have more meaning. My opinion.

 

Not sure why everyone should have a chance though. Not everyone makes it out of the group stages in International play. Not everyone can get a trophy

jp if you were in the owners chat youd know they might be changing there is at this moment no set format being used... they posed the xbox but it hasn't been confirmed as many of the owners thought every team was making it. Alot of owners would like to see the 8 team format, so as of right now what is going to be happening is up in the air.

 

Deciding playoffs format a week prior the playoffs is smart as fuck.

Use the format they posted and stop trying to change shit up.

I can't believe I have to take the time to argue for this.


Option 1:

Good option but not perfect. 5 players of the 17-man roster might not be able to play a game if a team wins 2-0).

Ask yourself this question: Why the fuck do we have a 17-man roster?

Here's an easy fix to option 1 (because i'm a nice guy):
-3 games no matter what.
-1 game min/max per player (1 game min for goalies).
-The team with the highest total of goals scored after 3 games is declared the winner.

I don't really care if the easy fix above is not implemented. Option 1 is still better than the other twos without it.

Option 2:

This option is the greatest idea ever!!1 You draft a 17-man roster only to bench the majority of the players. Top 6 for the cup yo!!1

Seriously, who the fuck votes for this shit? Did @matthuot87 suggest this? This is not fucking VGHL you fookin' wankers.

Option 3:

The BoGs made it clear that the playoffs wouldn't last more than a week. They posted the information before the tournament started. LGIHL was suposed to last a month top.

The playoffs format should of been thought before the tournament started. It would be very unprofessional to add an extra week at this stage of the season.

Keep it as it is, learn from the mistakes and make a better IHL on NHL17.

I am sorry if this seems rude. I spend more than enough time managing my team. I don't understand why the playoffs format is subject to a debate.

First of all having the guts to bring my name up when you never proven to be able to make any smart argument ever it's pretty dumb. Secondly obviously you did not show you could bring anything smart either here your argument is saying we should not argue wich is a stupid statement from the start. Telling people you should not change a format to improve the experience for others just because it don't fit you well probably the lamest fucking point you could make. As for the playoff they can make it like whatever community want wich is on point of view making more people involved in playoff so.

Does not take a smartass to understand that the tournament was rushed so if they want make change to fit community it just making sense

 

So you want the team with the most goals... not Wins after 3 games to advance? Team 1: Wins 2-1, 2-1 and loses once 5-0. Team 2 advances?

 

I personally chose option 3: of an top 8 turny. as i can live with an extra couple days, I under stand Jps argument, but a top 8 allows more of a challenge and creates an opportunity for upsets also allowing more people of the community a chance at gold. idk what an extra sunday and monday is going to do to the people playing for gold but I certainly wouldn't complain.

Just so ya know option 3 is winning the poll

 

People signed up for a 4 week league is the issue. Shouldn't be extending the league for teams who didn't "try" in the 3 week long regular season.

or

Fuck the 3rd week of the season and lets just start playoffs now all 14 teams make it and everyone gets a trophy for participating in the IHL playoffs .
2 week long playoffs everything is single elim

 

It's just an idea to make every players play a game. They make us draft a 17-man roster. Balanced teams should have a shot at the gold too. I think you get the idea though, i don't think i need to explain it in detail.

 

I like the idea of having all 3 lines from each team play 1 period and the total score of the 3 combined periods is the winner.

What do you guys think about this kind of format?

Round 1 Game 1 and Round 2 Game 1 can be played on a Sunday
Round 2 Game 2 and Game 3 can be played on Monday
Finals can be played on a Tuesday.

 

If the majority wants a 8T-Bo3 playoffs i suggest the schedule below:

week 1

Sunday August 28th
930: Quarter Finals game 1
1030: Quarter Finals game 2

Monday Aug. 29th
930: Quarter Finals game 3

Tuesday Aug. 30th
930: Semi Finals game 1
1030: Semi Finals game 2

Wednesday Aug. 31st
930: Semi Finals game 3

week 2

Sunday September 4th
930: Championship game 1
1030: Championship game 2

Monday Sept. 5th
1030: Championship game 3
