At one time in my life the only thing on my mind was NHL. I sometimes miss that crave of a virtual game controling my life. If the game still has that effect on people then I would love to hear it from you guys. 1. Is there still a strong community?(are there still nerds playing the game all day? Otp pick up games? OTP mic trash talk chat box etc) 2. Is the game boring? 3. Is it possible to be a dominate team/player? or have they balanced out the game so much that anyone can beat anybody? 4. If you could return to NHL 15 for 360 would you? 5. Is Goalie considered a position? is it fun? does it take skill? 6. Are the goals filthy? Can you embarrass folks? Can you recieve a beating? Tell me everything, how do you guys like the game? What do hate?
Sorry buddy I don't think the game is what you want it to be. 360 version is still way better in my opinion. You don't have the same player control like you used to. Bad animations continue. Also in general I think the community has died down a little or maybe I just don't play enough anymore. Regardless, I don't think it's like "the good old days". Hopefully if they integrate the frostbite engine next year the skating will get fixed and make for a better game.
Answers: 1. The community is strong...when LG games are happening lol. Club is basically dead, and I see the ESHL only reviving it a bit at the most. 2. I don't find the game boring, but I do find it very clunky. Skating is still a chore which leads to a poor overall experience. The goals in 18 seem more skill-based than 17, but that really isn't saying much. Playing with good people will lead to some great passing plays that really open the game up, but the skating hinders great plays more than anything. It's a real shame, because I think this game has serious potential, considering how critically acclaimed the pre-TPS games were. 3. Just on club alone last night, we outscored our 4 opponents like 35-7. I feel like the gap between what would be considered NHL and AHL talent has shrunk, just because AHL players are still decent players, and collapsing in this game while trapping can keep teams like that in the game. If you're playing total cupcakes, you will dominate the game if you want. 4. I would return to NHL 11 personally. I don't think the old-gen TPS games were really any better than the next-gen TPS games. I think what may separate old-gen TPS from new-gen is the absence of seamless puck pickup animations. Those are the worst (deliberate) gameplay additions the series has ever seen. 5. Yes. Goaltender is still a position in modern hockey, and it is represented in the game. Users can choose to play as the goalie. As for fun, I can't answer that as I've never played it. It certainly doesn't look like fun coming from someone who plays goalie in real life, but that's just me. Try it out I guess. 6. Oh yes, the goals are straight nasty! Spin around backhands that go five-hole at 2mph! Goals while the skater has possession and literally just carries the puck through the goalie's pad and into the net!! Shots from the blueline that go in five-hole while the goalie stands upright are only a few of the examples of straight-nasty goals you'll see in this game!!! On a serious note, the best-looking goals come from great passing plays. I've seen some beautiful setups, but in terms of dangling goals, they're almost non-existent if you're playing anybody half-good. Well, there you go! I hope I answered all of your questions. This game is totally ESPORTS ready, and all of us eAthletes are more than pumped to play mite hockey simulator 18! See you on the virtual ice! -The Don
