    I just posted this in the manager's boardroom but obviously this a huge change and we want to hear from the players as well!


    Brodie and I spoke the other day about an idea that came across in the forums. We spoke for quite a while hammering out different scenarios and trying to make this new idea become a reality. It all started after a comment from @l 17 l .

    "I'd agree that the game should either be Monday at 11 or Tuesday/Wednesday at 9.

    OR why not just make games Sunday-Wednesday 9, 10, 11. You shorten the season by 2 weeks. Each player gets 4 games a week. You can then most likely fit a 4th season in each years game, or do an international tournament to end the year that includes all players." - l 17 l


    I won't kill everyone with a Lou post, so I'm going to make this short and sweet. After Batman's post above, Brodie and I came up with an idea he would like me to pitch to all of you. In BOLD will be the changes.


    Beings it's almost guaranteed we are removing the Thursday game, a league week will be Sunday to Wendesday with the games times being (all levels) at eastern times:

    NHL 9 - 10 - 11
    AHL 8:45 - 9:45 - 10:45
    CHL 8:30 - 9:30 - 10:30

    Everyone will be eligible to now play 4 games a week. This will eliminate two weeks from the regular season, giving us a 7 week season. Here are the dates that we came up with throughout a calendar year of NHL :

    S28 : October 8th - December 21st
    S29 : January 14 - March 29
    S30 : April 30 - July 5


    I'll point out the pros for this for those that won't read everything (TLDR). The only CON I see in all of this, is the longer nights. The rest, for me, seems to be a very good upside to this.


    PROS :
    1.) Extra day off a week for managers, Thursday/Friday/Saturday would be off days.
    2.) Season is cut by two weeks. I mentioned to Brodie, from my personal experience, that it always seems to be around Week 5-7 when I start asking myself, "When will this season be over?"
    3.) Our final season ends July 5th, allowing lots of time before the next title release. MANY points to go through in this one. Summer season is always labeled as the "AIDS Season", this may help that case with it ending earlier than a normally end date of Mid August (Finals). To think that we'd already be halfway through our summer season right now. :thinking:
    4.) I've noticed that some people may only be able to play certain times all week due to work. Some can only play early, some may only be able to play late. This lays out an even amount of those times, rather than have a scattered schedule during the week.
    5.) With the amount of time we leave ourselves at the end of S30, it opens the door to run special events. Internationals? Any other cool ideas. Or nothing and play the next title's beta

    Who the shit wants to play 4 games in 4 days.

    Keep it the way it is Dicksan. It shouldn't feel like a chore to show up for so many games.

    For managers and players don't have to spend an extra day to get on. Would allow those guys with limited availability or lack of Interest to play all their games in one day. Would also shorten the length of the season

    That's what I see anyway.

    keep the 9pm thursday game and remove 1 11pm game to 10 on thursday or just remove 11pm there to late for people who work or have school the next day.

    I voted yes. Extra game a week isn't a big deal to many, and it opens up more options for people who only play late games, early games, ect. I also think shorter seasons is something everyone can agree on.

    Let the 3 seasons finish a little earlier in the year, and fill the missing space with the Pro Series tournament at years end.

    I'm fine with keeping things the same, but I'm also okay with trying this out. It's a pretty good idea, but there are definitely some flaws that need to be fixed here.

    Having AHL games start 15 minutes prior to NHL games is a no go... That will be hell regarding ECU's. I am also not sure about the CHL having games at 10:30. I feel like more of the younger guys typically gravitate towards the CHL, and so I'm not sure if a 10:30 game time would be ideal there.

    Also one of the biggest complaints you hear about this league (yes about the league, not about the game sucking, which the league can't do anything about) is the lack of games that are allowed to be played. I think most people wouldn't mind playing an extra game each week provided that the game doesn't blow.

    We already have issues getting games to start on time. Good luck getting ECUs from the AHL.

    If everyone showed up for their games this would work for sure.

    45 ahl starts and top of the hour NHL starts wouldn't work, Need to have that window open for ecus. I like the idea otherwise.
    Would we be trying to get another season in by cutting each season down by 2 weeks or will that just be added dead time?

    so wait, 4 games a week for a skater would mean how many now for goalies? Is that an 8-4 split for starter/backup max?

    If so, then fuck that.
