I voted Madden only since 2K has a proven track record of HORRIFIC connection issues and very poor uptime with the website and leagues. Good luck with it though , hopefully they only charge you guys $19.99 for it.
i will buy both for sure. most def be in madden league to get that NFL fix. 2k would have to offer some sweet online play like custom teams etc.. so it would be a wait and see for me on the 2k side of things..
lol...probably. I'm definately getting NCAA. Gonna check out the demo for 2k8. Madden will probably be purchased eventually.
Madden has not changed for me since the PlayStation days (I loved Madden 2001). I gave Madden 07 a fair chance (hell, I had two versions of the game, the 360 and PS3 versions). It was nothing "wowza" about it. Heck I found it kind of funny when they had such features as "Dynasty Mode" labeled as a NEW feature. As for All Pro Football - I was looking forward to it until they announced there would be no dynasty-type mode in the game. Its focused on exhibition and online play. Online is all a bonus to me, heck to this day Ive only played 3 games thoroughly online on Xbox Live (360 wise) - they are TDU, PGR3, and Battlefield 2. Football games are just getting boring for me. The Wii version of Madden 07 looked fun though (hey, positive).
My $0.02 Well, unlike the rest of you knuckleheads, I won't pass judgement on this game until I play it. While the NFL license is nice and preferred, overall gameplay is paramount to all else. To exclude a game from consideration simply b/c it doesn't have the license is short sighted IMO. Remember, Madden hasn't always had the NFL license. I remember playing on the SNES and playing as simply Dallas, using #8 to throw to #88 or handing off to #22. No license? So what. Besides, if done right, customization would be a very cool thing. I can also appreciate as much as anyone the fact 2k servers have been absolute garbage and continue to be a source of much frustration. As far as the game is concerned, since VC is producing it and not Kush, I'm inclined to give the game the benefit of the doubt for now. Having said all that, I think that while EA is not overly concerned about the potential success of APF 2k8, the 2k product still represents some form of competition and money that may not be spent on Madden. In response, they are seemingly pulling out all the stops to finally deliver a game with all the features that current-gen owners have enjoyed the past two years or longer while at the same time fixing the few annoyances of '07. I think EA's strategy is that by putting out what could be the best Madden to date, they will squash 2k's dreams of a football comeback once and for all.
UH, hey army.. Ahem.. have you looked at the MLB credits.. VC produced that crap.. lol.. both 2k6 and 2k7.. SOOO.. um.. you might want to um think about your "benefit of a doubt" no way im giving 2k a chance to disappoint me again.. short sighted or anything.. Ive bought their games religiously since 2k1 and the last 2 years ive been all but "postal" about their so called #1 games..
Well, Kush games is owned by VC but it's a different studio. Much like many games produced by EA are produced by different game studios. The people that make the football game are not the same ones that made the baseball game. From what I seem to remember reading, it's most of the guys that made NFL 2k5 that are working on APF 2k8. Hopefully that clarifies it. And 2k can only disappoint you if you expect it to be great. Be very pessimistic about it. Rent it and give it some play time to confirm it's the crappy game you believe it will be. And I said it was short-sighted to dismiss a game purely on the basis it didn't have the NFL license, not b/c you were dissatisfied with 2k as a whole. And one final thing... if I offended you or pissed you off, I apologize. I used the term knuckleheads jokingly and was in no way looking to upset anyone with my comments. Nonetheless, I stick by what I said. I'll reserve judgement on the game until it comes out and give it a fair shake.
I will be in both leagues for the first season of the 08 games. That will determine which game I give most of my time to. While the NFL brand gives Madden the initial advantage, i'm thinking the gameplay on the field will give 2k8 the lasting appeal. It's the little things that VC did with their game that made it feel more authentic, things like offsetting penalties, 3 and 5 step drops, and the fact that I didn't run in place when I ran into my own lineman. I thinking that creating (drafting) your own team from the ground up will be a blessing in disguise for 2k8. Especially when it comes to league play.
