That happened to me today. All I did to fix it was go to the settings on your dashboard and select automatic for the IP (even though it already should be). Than it should auto-fix itself.
Linuxx...did you enable WEP Encryption on the router? My guess is that if it's a new router it shouldn't be enabled out of the box, but it's something to check. Also, check your DHCP settings on the router. Be sure you're enabling enough devices to obtain IP Addresses. A good place to start if none of that works is to reset the router to factory defaults, and then upgrade the firmware. Hit me up if you are still having issues.
I use D-link Routers myself and i have opened up ports myself for other applications but I never thought of doing it with my 360 Ill try it out great tutorial BTW. For you guys who have tried this do you notice a huge difference now playing on XBOX Live? I have often wondered why my connection wasnt as good especially when I upgraded to high speed xtreme now I may know why.
Setting your Xbox on DMZ is for both wired and wireless. Basically what DMZ does is give your device full access to the Internet without having the router filter the requests to it. While this could be less secure to run a PC on DMZ there isn't much to worry about with the Xbox.
ok here is my issue i have a linksys wireless g router with speedboost and i have dmz enabled and i also have the ports open for 88 udp and 3074 tcp and udp and it still shows as moderate in my nat settings does this mean i have to go thru linksys or microsoft to figure out the problem its wierd when i first got the 360 it was open now all of a sudden it is moderate not sure what is going on also i have a firewall set up its just the windows firewall will this have anything to do with it?
Your Internet connection will NOT improve regardless if you have a 10mbps router or a 1000mbps router.....you are bound by your ISPs speeds. The router speeds are mainly prevalent when you have 2 or more PCs on your network, and your communicating between them. I've always had my Xbox and Xbox 360 on DMZ, it really makes connecting more simplistic. Someone had asked earlier about not changing your NAT or something.....even if your NAT is open, you can still use a 3rd party Firewall or Windows Firewall on your PC, and it will be protected just fine.
Your Windows Firewall is the buffer between your PC and your router, so having the DMZ on, and NAT Open you will be ok. I posted this in the above response. I also thought I had read something awhile back, about an issue with the speedboost on linksys routers, and Xbox Live ( I could be wrong ). I think opening ports is more game specific than it is an overall fix to having connection problems with other LIVE members.
crackinbacks are you from Canada? I think I played against you WITH nhl rIVALS AND NFL Fever on www.xsnsports.com
