Hello everyone, Thank's to everyone who's helped LG, I have an exciting update on our new server. We have purchased a very fast machine that we will split into 2 dedicated VM machines, a VM MYSQL and VM php front end server. This machine should meet all our current needs , and needs for years to come I'd like to personal thank @ImJeff and @Anonymash93 , and Jeff's co-worker (just know as Alex) to help us purchase the new hardware. If you guys have any doubt , there are 3 witnesses. LG Spent (USD) $3,366.88 in hardware $400 in services to Alex and ImJeff (explained below) $37.47 paypal fees (fuck you paypal) Total Cost $3,805.33 USD A bit of history, Jeff is the one who reached out to me when LG was DOS attacked and said he works at a hosting company and was willing to give us his personal employee server at his hosting company. It's because of Jeff i even bothered to move and restore LG. Jeff is moving to ARZ Thursday to run their division down there. We both decided it was better for the LG Server to stay in Chicago for its location to Canada and the east coast. So to build this new machine we needed his friend, Meet Alex. Alex is going to build the machine from the ground up, install all the VM/Windows and everything else we need. Jeff was going to give him $200 usd out of his own pocket. I wouldn't have that, So i am happy to cover that cost. Jeff has also been working with me behind the scenes the entire week setting up what we've got today and the future. I felt he deserved a thanks and offered him $200 usd as well. Its the right thing to do. We also ran into a snag where I could no purchase the hardware because all my addresses are Canadian. So jeff and i came to an agreement, i paypal'd him the money, and he has since purchased the hardware Now its important to note that the GoFundMe is CAD, As it stands now we have 3,699 CAD, after GoFundMe's fees, we have $3402.29 Our server costs 3805.33 USD based on todays exchange, 3,402.29 CAD = $2,545.88USD So 3805.33USD -2,545.88usd =1259.45 USD so far that LG is covering So the real goal to cover this cost would be $5085.39 Canadian Dollars If people wanted to add onto the gofundme, it would always be appreciated if not, I will cover the rest. Thanks to everyone for their support, its been extremely humbling!
Update #1 Everything is shipped, and we currently have the hard drives Some parts were shipped from different parts of the country, the slowest being from Cali and the current shipping date the case in Dec 8th. The problem when your building a server from scratch, you are only as good as the slowest part.
Update #2 We have every part delivered Alex is going to work on building it today, hopefully might be available for me to use tomorrow. Once i have access, i will have to take down LG for half a day to move our code and our database.
I always felt Windows servers to be slow and full of unneeded GUI systems. Which is my opinion... Should of worded that better. To each their own I guess
It's a server running VM's, a lot different than what you're thinking of. Just read this thread Tris, cool to see all the parts, definitely more fun than cloud
