I would just like to make a statement of sorts regarding something we (Maple Leafs) have been dealing with as of late, and I'm sure this has gone on in every season on many teams throughout the lifetime of LG and leagues like it.

I understand that just saying this in a post will not make much of a difference as something like this most likely won't change the way a person is, but it's worth a try.

Over the past week, we have had a few incidents regarding players purposely trying to make our team lose games, quitting early, etc. It is very frustrating to know that there are still a number of immature people in this league who don't care enough to finish a game out just to be supportive to their teammates.

I know, I know, you're all saying, "But Goose, these games last 20 minutes. If I quit early, that gives me 5 extra minutes to tune into Nick at Nite and drink my Danimals before I go night-night." That is a VERY valid point. But, we all know you've seen that re-run of Full House 48 times, so the extra few minutes won't kill you.

It all comes down to commitment. I know for me, if I make a commitment to something, I 100% honor it barring any sort of massive happening (family emergency, etc). And I understand this league is a miniscule part of many of our lives, but it's discouraging to see that while this league is not real life, does not pay, and doesn't really "matter", people can't even commit to it. It's so easy to do. If you have no interest in practicing, at the very least, your 3 games a week (if you're a skater) will take a maximum of 90 minutes (if there are no lagouts, late VG players, etc.) You aren't agreeing to travel across the country, you're agreeing to sit in a chair and play a video game for 20-30 minutes at a time. If you can't commit to something so miniscule, whether it's because of your life, or your interest in the game, don't commit at all. Regardless of what it is, people are relying on you to keep the ship afloat.

Now, if the commitment argument doesn't work for you, you're probably on the "but all my teammates suck" train. Here are a few thoughts on that:

    A. No, all your teammates do not suck every single time you lose a game. No, it is not always everyone else's fault that the other team scored! You can be held reliable too!

    B. No, you are not always going to be on the best team in the league. There's a pretty good chance your team might not even make the playoffs! It happens!

    C. If you do believe that everyone sucks on your team, and you only want to play for a winner, remember that if you are in fact as good as you think you are, you'd probably already be on the "great" team in the first place.

    D. Lastly, if you want to play with people who don't "suck", check out EASHL. It's a game mode in which LG is based. You actually get to choose the 5 other awesome, sick, gnarly players you get to play with and you can try to win every game!

If you took the time to read this, thank you. Again, odds are this won't change anything, as online gaming is as immature as it is spectacular, but it's something I just can't understand. If you're reading this and you want a trade, think your teammates suck, hate everyone, etc., just please ask the Owner for a trade. It makes everything easier, and if you go about it correctly and in a kind way, it will probably work out for you.

Its sad that people dont see the issue with trying to make your team lose. I honestly feel like they should ban people for this, especially seeing that you can get a ban just by hurting someones feelings in the SB.

There is probably a ruling. Too much paperwork for the owners though.

i hate the paperwork excuse. If something is detrimental to your team and its ability to win, you should be willing to do paperwork.

This is what I would say as well, back in the FL days (Yes I am old) a lot of talent was found from actually playing with other people then my club mates at that time. No one wants to sacrifice or waste time trying to play with different people anymore. Oh the old dayssssss........ RIP Millennials

    NAME SHAME!!

i agree 100%. i think 9/10 times it comes down to management (not suggesting TOR). if your mgmt cares even if you aren't the best at the game it invests u in the team. if you have players who aren't interested u need to strike them physically and virtually with the rule book. don't trade them cause they are whining. call them out, ban them, teach them a lesson. eventually they will grow up and start to recognize and respect everyone else's time.

    not giving a fuck is TOXIC @BigJayAyotte ... (@xW 4 R D) @AnyGivenDay

No way to prove that he fell asleep or not.

What we do have is proof of a player standing still for an entire period until his team got shelled and inevitably quit, hence his ban.

We also do ban people for throwing games, provided there is proof associated with it.

My mans is asking for proof that I fell asleep. If it happens again I'll make sure to tell my girl to take a pic of me sleeping with controller in hand. Lol God, I only wish that a bog would fall asleep waiting for a game to start. Would be a complete different story, and fuck off if you try to say otherwise. Budz just thought that I was being a dick cause no one likes playing for the worst owner the league has seen.
