@MCDONALD l19l @Nuge @B-Bunny @jonlol @Tonyferelli @kcut 9 @Oohwayy The one area NHL seems to be lacking these days is in the competitive gaming scene (eSports). 2K had the Pro Am league/tournament which is set up very much like EASHL in the sense it is an online competitive multiplayer mode. It is ran from end January to the beginning of June and anyone can qualify for the tournament and then there is a playoff bracket of 16 teams (Road To The Finals) and the total prize money up for grabs was $250,000 AND a trip to the NBA Finals for the PS4 and Xbox One winners! (http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...-prize-money-and-format-for-new-esports-event) Here is how it was set up: https://www.2k.com/nba2k16/roadtothefinals/ - The Road to the Finals games was streamed on twitch and directly on NBA2K on the main menu

lol yeah but if the hype and it being a huge prize and trip to the cup finals, is a big difference compared to pro series regular season and playoffs and prize of roughly 2000 total (no offense i thoroughly enjoy pro series)
We have 4K for this season, and I agree, but expecting NHL to be able to put up 250K is a bit much considering NBA 2K is a much larger franchise.
Yeah i wasn't expecting anything like that, but with eSports getting big shouldn't be hard to get a sponsor, granted thats a whole other area of discussion and we could only speculate about and EA would have to find and come to an agreement with which is plausible but at the same time could just as easily not happen.
This needs to stop. If EA wants to do it, they would have it. Obv they don't care, so why push it? Its nice and good business when companies reward its loyal customers with incentives + prizes, but shouldn't be expected.
If EA were to put up a prize of even half of that, you'd see a huge increase in the number of players as it would give people that play games for money a reason to pick up NHL, which is something that doesnt really exist right now. There are tons of people that may not like basketball, but pick up 2k because it's competitive and they can win money off it. Most of the people that pick up NHL are hockey fans first and foremost.
Consider nba 2k probably sells at the minimum 10 times that nhl does it is a low prize. Theres hut players for ea to get paid from rather than game sales
They did a year end playoffs in 09 and 10. People have been asking for it ever since and ea has ignored them. I don't expect that to change.
That's a simpletons way of looking at it. Nowadays with sponsorships/advertising in game, the more people that are buying and playing the game every day the more revenue EA and NHL can get from sponsors. So yes, an increase in sales would increase impressions which in turn helps EA ask for bigger dollars from sponsors. HUT is gravy for them as it is additional revenue with little in the way of upkeep / cost to EA, but increasing the gamerbase is hugely beneficial.
oh no according to the game changers ea actually takes their advice and factors them into the decision making. i sure as hell cant cosign that since every complaint i see on their website and facebook never gets addressed or attempt to get fixed.
