@drally20 GP: 25 W: 20 L: 4 OTL: 1 TIO: 1554:58 GA: 43 SA: 222 SV%: 80.6 GAA: 1.66 SO: 3

Drally leads the league in GAA at an impressive 1.66. Drally is on Florida who is 1st in the East, played VS 17 teams who are currently in a playoff spot and 8 who are not.


@Kerns-_- GP: 31 W: 21 L: 8 OTL: 2 TOI: 1814:04 GA: 60 SA: 294 SV% 79.6 GAA: 1.98 SO: 7

Kerns being Kerns, leads the league with 7 (yes 7) shutouts and 2nd in GAA with 1.98 and tied for 2nd in wins. On the defending Champs Chicago, he had no troubles holding his own when his team couldn't score. With Scootz gone, the team is finally putting pucks in the net. Played VS 18 teams currently in a playoff spot and 13 who are not.


@lx JoneZ xl GP: 21 W: 14 L: 5 OTL: 2 TOI: 1315:21 GA: 47 SA: 265 SV%: 82.3 GAA: 2.14 SO: 4

Jonez is tied for leagues best SV% at 82.3 and 2nd with 4 SO. Playing on Winnipeg who site 10th in the West has put up excellent numbers on a non playoff team. Played VS only 11 playoff teams and 10 non playoff teams could run him short of winning the Vezina but being on a bad team might help.


@DoubleZERO33 GP: 27 W: 21 L:5 OTL: 1 TIO: 1661:59 GA: 59 SA: 333 SV%: 82.3 GAA: 2.13 SO: 3

DoubleZero is tied for leagues best SV% at 82.3 and tied for 2nd in most wins. Putting up excellent numbers for playing on the 7th place in the West Colorado. DZ was traded from Carolina to Colorado before week 3. DZ played VS 11 playoff teams and 16 non playoff teams, like Jonez, this will put a damper on his Vezina considerations.


Not far behind but a strong finish could put these goalies in the mix

Spark 81.8 save% is the most impressive stat considering his Ahl dcore in front of him.

I agree. DoubleZero is having a Veniza type year playing on both Carolina and Colorado

Sparkplugnic is the front runner for the bed. He's on a terrible team and has better stats than everyone else

 

If he can bring his GAA down and pick up a few more SO, he will certainly win. He's having a career year and will certainly be looked at carefully for the Vezina. But he is the backup goalie ( not sure why @Budz_780 ) and will need to play more games. He also played 50% VS playoff teams.

I would like to say I had an 83 sv% (1st place) and 2.17 GAA (5th I believe) before last nights games so this coming out before last night would have made me look better in the race. Last night we lost 7-2 against NJ (30 shots against) and 3-2 to EDM. But it is what it is

 

SV% carries more consideration than GAA
GAA 'can' be a more team centric stat where as SV% is more indicative of goalie performance.

Quality of competition is taken into consideration
Low quality competition can inflate player numbers.

 

I appreciate being on the list of possibles even though this was following my worst game of the season. Excited to see how all the goalies do down the stretch.

SV% is easily inflatable by facing lots of weak shots. In game performance and making the bigger and key saves is what is more important. And it's way more telling to know which line goalies faced (1st/2nd or 3rd) over playoff teams. Lots of none playoff teams have great first lines. Don't discredit good games vs them.

 

SV% is a good indicator of Goalie performance for any and all shots faced, including big key saves.

There are 4 major categories:
# of games played / SV% / GAA / Quality of competition (team and or line specific)

 

@Crease-Fire didn't look at the stats today, so that's changed now.

Keep playing like you are (not last night), face playoff teams and the committee won't over look you.

@jonlol if you want help with advanced goalie stats, I would love to help out. This post is just a scratch of the surface, not as detailed I would love to do.

I did see a problem with the stats, some games played was less then their record dictates. Something for @Tris10 to look into.
