Community Vote - ESHL/LGHL

Hello LG Community,

With the announcement of the ESHL schedule conflicting with a day of LGHL (Tuesday), I went to @LG McDonald and after some passion-fueled talks, we both managed to come to a very interesting idea that will benefit both leagues in our opinion. Obviously, I want both leagues to be as competitive as possible and offer competitive hockey to everyone, regardless if they want to pay for it or not.

The current proposal is this:

Replace the 9 & 10pm games on Tuesday with an 11pm game on Sunday and a 9pm game on Wednesday. So the schedule would look like this:

Sunday - 3 games - 9/10/11 est
Monday - 2 games - 9/10 est
Tuesday - 1 game - 11 est
Wednesday - 3 games - 9/10/11 est

Reasons for the proposal:

1) It opens up better availability for the majority of players playing ESHL.
2) It allows for both leagues to coincide with each other rather conflict with each other thus allowing more players to participate in both events if they were on the fence.
3) It allows for management in the LGHL to do their duties and build their team without being constricted by ESHL.

So, obviously the biggest reason is opening up availability so majority of the community can play in both events if they choose to.

When I opened up this discussion to the other owners of LG, the consensus, for the most part, was in agreement of this proposal. A couple of owners/GMs suggested just having 3 games on Monday too and wiping out Tuesday all together for LGHL. Now it sounds good in theory but isn't possible due to the league having 31 teams and needing a 10th slot for each team different weeks with the way the schedule is now.

So now it's your turn, the LGHL community. Decide on what you want this LGHL season to look like schedule-wise. Keep in mind, this proposal would only be in effect for the three weeks that the ESHL season operates. This thread should be used for a juicy discussion and voting, please keep the troll attempts to a minimum as it wont really do anything.

Counterargument: (so far, that I've heard of)

- If we do change the scheduling, then we will be satisfying the ESHL players and showing the rest of the league we don't care about them. Why give in for a small portion of the league and make the rest of the community suffer?

- My response to this is that we're trying to make both leagues as competitive as possible and I don't see the issue of moving two LGHL games for 3 weeks so that way players in both events can play in both events without conflict. I feel this is the best way to make the most of both leagues. For players who were on the fence about playing either LGHL or ESHL due to scheduling, this proposal now opens up so players can play in both. The league definitely cares about the whole community or else we wouldn't be holding this to a vote.

If you've read this far down then obviously you care about this issue and hopefully want to see this proposal survive. But now it's time to vote and leave your thoughts below on any ideas or just how you feel about it. Keep in mind that this proposal was made with the intentions of LGHL/ESHL being the priority league. So if you're in VGHL or any other league, it may conflict with that.

At the end of the day, whatever the community decides is what will happen.

This needs to happen all season

 

You need 10 game slots not 9 to make a schedule with 31 teams work.

 

Remember when we had one game every Thursday and everyone hated it and it was really difficult to get people to sign up for it and basically the whole community was thrilled when it was eliminated. You want to add this game back, albeit on a Tuesday, but two hours later?

 

Move 1 game on Tuesday or move none. I don't know about everyone else but my time is valuable. Waiting around all night until 11pm for one game because eshl is not something I care to do.

 

The main goal was to see if the community was alright with a switch or not for the three weeks.

Working out the kinks such as either moving 1 or 2 games on Tuesdays can be talked about but obviously only if the community is down for it.

And as Brodie said, it really also depends on the number of ESHL teams. Doing a switch like this for a extremely small part of the community isn't reasonable. But this was just to gauge where the community was in thoughts of this.

 

Have the Tuesday game be at 930. Not too late for the east and not too early for the west.
Still means people are getting fucked for a small amount of the community. It's a tough decision either way, you have guys attempting to play LGHL on both consoles and pro series on one or two consoles. I don't see how that's possible.

 

I like the idea but this will alienate all the "i can't play the 11pm game" people who drive me insane. I live on the east coast now and have a physically demanding job i have to be up at 6am for as well and have ZERO issue with 11pm games, so i really don't understand that argument personally. But those players exist as well.. so keep that in mind as you will take a game of eligibility from them as well....fml

 

Bah, i probably wont be playing ESHL. But i believe I'll be playing LG. More late games, means going to bed later, aint the greatest when someone needs to get up early for work the next day. Also, why change the schedule of a league that sees over 1200 registered players, compared to how many for ESHL? Why not moves those games for ESHL from Thursdays through saturday? 3 games every night.

Don't be like EA, its the only online mode worth playing where its free.

 

Why are we changing LGHL to make ESHL work when it should be the other way around. ESHL needs a third day and a minimum of 1 weekend game to actually work and synchronize with LGHL.

From someone who wants to play most his games Tuesday I don't like this proposal. If someone wants to play both just don't sign up for Tuesday games if that's the only conflicting day
