Broken Xbox 360 List

Well mine died a second time. This time it's a DVD error (details here). Called MS, talked to three different agents and it seems they won't fix it for free. My grace period warranty after my system was returned expired in April, and MS will only fix it for free with the three red rings. Its gonna cost me $99 to fix it. I told him I dont want to process the repair just yet, I am going to try to find alternatives.

I don't want to buy a new system, nor do I want to fix this one for a fee.

To be honest, for months I've been thinking of selling the 360 and all my games, and this only influences me more. I don't really have the time anymore to play all three systems. I am only keeping the Wii for my relatives and for future Mario games.

How much do broken 360s go on ebay? I wouldnt mind selling it to someone who wants to fix it him/herself. The HDD is completely fine, but problem is if I were to sell this I need to erase all my personal data on the thing.

 

microsoft will rip you off any way they can. i'm sure they knew about all these problems that were going to happen when XBOX360 was released. more money for B.gates

i have had the red lights of death for 2 months now. i have been using the towel trick, and even though it consistenly works, it's a pain in the ass and i think it was just making my xbox worse and worse every time. so i got down and dirty and dove into my xbox; i took off the imfamous x-clamps, removed there standard thermal paste from the cpu and gcpu, added new thermal paste, added new screws and washers, melted the solder balls, and now i am good to go! we'll se how long this 'fix' works.

 

right up until the time your DVD drive fails.

why not send it back for repair? im sure you'll have it back in 2-3 weeks.

 

i didn't have a warranty, so i wasn't worried about that. if i did, i would have sent it in no problem. but as it turns out, i would have had to pay 140 bucks, and did not want to do that. we'll see how long this fix works....if it breaks down on me again, they are selling new xbox's for 200 bucks these days.....just 60 bucks more than it would have cost me to send it in.

 

they have extended warranty i think until 2010.

 

did you have to pay extra for it or something? is this an xbox/microsoft warranty or like a BestBuy warranty? WHen i looked into my warranty situation, microsoft said mine had expired and i was forced to pay money if i wanted to get it fixed by them. they are bastards; hopefully my xbox will work for awhile now. i wonder what xbox/microsoft does to fix it; maybe the same thing i did? either way, i am stoked it's working now, and with xbox's, it seems as though no matter what, it's just matter of time until it goes down.

September 26th After I got home from work tried to play my xbox 360 Unplayable Disc WTF!!! So I thought nothing of it went onthe computer for a bit then went to bed. Woke up in the moring still Unplayable Disc god damn smack that bitch around a little bit and still nothing so I had to send it in. SO it was sent in Tuesday september 30th and Yesterday Friday the 10th it says they have shipped it back and since it is Thanksgiving I expect it to be back on Tuesday the 14th. So all in all while I had nothing to do I was thinking about buying another xbox 2 weeks is a long time haha.

 

My HDMI xbox broke last night. Ive been playing on my older one. Now i realize how great HDMI really is.

 

And now im lost. my xbox has the RRoD but its up and going right.

and RR gone now.

nm. **** did it again. done for. HDMI xbox dead. If this older POS fails, its curtains for my support on microsoft this generation. 360 and PS3 have finally became equal now anyways. The only thing that sucks is that this site is 98% 360 users ha.

my original xbox 360 is on its last leg. i give it another week or so. I talk **** about saying im not going to get another one but in the end, I will haha. it might have been a tougher decision if i didnt have about $100 dollars of change sitting around.

 

Mine just died today..RIP sending it in tomorrow morning, Thanks Bill Gates...just in time for team league playoffs! =(
