Only noticeable improvement is getting the opportunity to hold down the "A" button to skip long cut scenes.

 

Skating is still shit. Didn't know EA was trying to emulate beer league hockey for the third consecutive year.

Im sick of the animation of sitting in the stands before the faceoff

 

Still noticed some auto animations with skating on breakouts where my guy would just pull up and stop and the pass would sail past me. Those need to go.

How did we not get a skate around mode? Add like 15 dekes, better figure those out by yourself in game.

 

As of right now it's not even worth buying. I gotta find a new hobby I guess.

all they need to do really do is fix the dekeing and the game is fantastic compared to last year. ive played 12 games and haven't seen half the shit goals as i did last year. bouncing off the dman, own goals, etc. puck pickups much better. poke check actually accurate and effective. only beef is people losing the puck on dekes with nobody around them. as great as the beta is im sure they'll find a way to fuck it up like previous years by the time 18 gets released.

 

Only played a couple games of 6s, so take this for what it is worth. I actually think that the gameplay feels a lot crisper. I only played a couple games but I didn't see all the trash goals and bounces that were constant in 17, which could be a product of people just testing new things out versus constantly slinging turds (but turds/tips did seem a bit less effective). The gameplay itself is far too slow, playing defense is honestly a bore. With that said, I like that the players actually make it a point to keep the puck in the zone at the blue line, versus constantly fighting the game to try and do so. There still aren't enough options if you have a forward crashing on you to be able to quickly play it in the corner or touch it away, outside of a one touch pass or turd. Once I got used to chopping with RS, I felt like that was a considerable improvement, now your player doesn't try to shoot the puck when chopping "up" and timing matters.

Vision control seems improved, that was a pretty big knock I had since this game came to next gen. As far as the defensive skill stick, I'm not sure if there is value actually using it; I can still intercept passes, poke and actually pick up the puck without having to use it. Found myself playing defense a lot more like previous iterations of the game rather than depending on the skill stick.

Really didn't experiment with any of the new dekes. I feel like in 6s, they wont be super practical anyway. In theory it should add some semblance of individual skill back into the game, that's certainly a plus. Got dunked on by Brodie by using the one handed deke, so that should certainly raise some red flags for everyone playing this game.

Overall, I didn't feel compelled to keep playing all night last night, but didn't feel a lot of the aggravation I felt while playing 17. I'll say I'm cautiously optimistic.

 

EA can you please add human goalie option in 3s....im hoping this is fixed by the time this Patched up nhl 17 game drops. @LG McDonald

Everything feels the same shit to me(game play wise), with the addition of some QC certified dekes and defensive skill stick that really isn't needed.
