This couldn't be because of the BP pitching speed could it?

We'll just have to see how this game plays online once we get it in our grasp. If we end up using this 2 button swing garbage then it better allow you to hit HR's w/o using the stupid "POWER" swing button...lol POWER SWING!!!!

BP pitching speed will actually reduce the distance that someone can hit the ball. If they took the same type of cuts on 95MPH+ fastball they would just hit the ball even farther we just wouldn't see quite as many go that far as it would end up taking much more precision to hit a ball properly that is moving that much faster. But that is kind of the whole point is that if you see a hanging breaking ball that is like a BP pitch and you will take a much more powerful cut at the ball as you have good vision at it and when it is a blazing fastball you will be just wanting to make contact with it.

Suuurre... Denman next time your down in Texas bring your baseball bat....I'll throw you all curve balls and changeups and we'll see how many you hit when you muscle up and try to yank them out of the park. [-(

When you see a fastball you dont think "Oh shit " and just try to make contact with it. You react to the ball and let your hands fly.

Well if your curve balls and changeups are like hanging BP pitches then yeah they should be pretty easy to hit compared to a blazing fastball :p

But I am sure you can throw just about anything by me anymore since I havn't played baseball in close to 10 years now and the closest I have been is some summer time slow pitch softball

Oh and can you honestly say that if you would be batting with someone like Rob Dibble pitching that you would be ready to hammer his fastball when there is so much of a chance that it could be going toward your head at any time. :)

There is just going to be certain situations where you will know what type of pitch to expect and your eyes light up when you see the pitch you are looking for not just when you see a fastball. If you are looking curve away and that is what you get then you will have great success but if you get a fastball up and in you are pretty much going to be frozen in your seat or just taking a very horrible/weak cut at it in hope to make contact.

Like I said we'll just have to wait to see how it plays. I guess im just a little skeptical of the whole 2 button hitting as it really makes no sense. Couldn't they assign the right trigger for swing and adjust the power of the swing by how far or hard you mash down the trigger?

MP I suggest you go out and get the demo, the two button system is not all that bad. You can easily tell when it is the pitch you are looking for and can hit the power button to get more distance on the ball. I dont mind it at all. But of course I also believe that their is such a thing as a a power swing........

That would be difficult as if you barely pulled the trigger it would swing very slowly or if you pulled really hard and to keep a precise swing going would make swinging very difficult and if they dummied it down to work smoothly it might as well be a button at that point and not have to worry about using the trigger to swing. I would think just the button control of a tap would be a contact swing and holding it down would be more of a power swing much like how the lob and bullet passing in nfl is. But yeah it will still all come down to how well it is integrated into the game.

power/contact choice could also simply be a coaching decision...

do you have your power hitter try to hit a HR all the time, knowing it may lower his BA?

i think it just adds a coaching element, albeit not a terribly sim-like one...

More to the point of interesting conversation versus fueling bitter rivalries, I went and looked at what teams people have been calling out and which ones were still left - this does not mean anything of course.

Most requested team - :balo: Baltimore Orioles (4 requests)
Teams yet to be named by anyone:
    Chicago White Sox :bchiw:
    Cleveland Indians :bcle:
    Milwaukee Brewers :bmil:
    Pittsburgh Pirates :bpit:
    Colorado Rockies :bcol:
    Montreal Expos :bmon:

I think I'll unofficially put a chip on the :bkc: KC Royals as I don't think I've said that before.

Other points of interest - 3 people have put in for the :bdet: Detroit Tigers (weird) along with the :bnyy: Yanks and :bnym: Mets. American League East is the most requested division with the American League Central being the least.

    Just food for thought.

Well if worst comes to worst and I cant get either the Twins or Mariners, I will take either the Rockies or White Sox, of course this is all hypothetically.
