Announcing My Retirement Early For Attention and Sympathy

Hello All.

My name is Goosechuk. I have been a member of the LG community now since S2 where I helped (got carried) the Rockford Icehogs to a Calder Cup. I've been a part of 9 different NHL teams since S2 and wouldn't be surprised if that number grows by the deadline due to my unmatchable veteran presence.

Due to a number of changes in my life come the start of 2018, I will not be playing LG anymore. While I could've simply waited to make this announcement in January, or even not make the announcement at all, I think allowing everyone to celebrate my career with ceremonies and shower me with gifts as I visit each arena for the last time is the proper way to do this.

While my stats don't show it, I think it's quite obvious (not to sound cocky), that with me retiring, LG is losing their Bobby Orr. Being the greatest isn't an easy task. You have many doubters. You have many adversaries. Even with that, I knew that night in and night out, win or loss, -10 or +10, I was the greatest to virtually lace up a pair of skates and select "LD" in a pre-game lobby.

There are many people I would like to thank, but first, I would like to ask for thanks from the following people/teams:

- I would like a thank you from the New Jersey Devils for their Stanley Cup in S4
- I would like a thank you from the S2 Rockford Icehogs for my fantastic Game 6 performance in order to allow the team to make it to Game 7 and win the Calder Cup
- I would like a thank you from the S3 Calgary Flames and Washington Capitals for carrying them to 48 and 49 point seasons, respectively.

As for gifts/ceremonies for the remainder of the season, I would like a standing ovation of at least 3 minutes each night as well as a 12 minute moment of silence. If anyone speaks during that time, they'll be shot at immediately, no exceptions. Please, do not include any sort of food for gifts. I don't want to be told what to eat and when to eat it. Also, Carolina, don't even give me any gift at all because the Hurricanes blow. Suck it, @JClaus33.

Now, I would like to thank:

- The Season 4 New Jersey Devils for allowing my to show off my goaltending ability on the biggest stage of all
- Everyone on NaC/TG/TTP besides @JClaus33 for allowing me to showcase my ability against top tier competition as we dominated everyone night in and night out in EASHL
- @dudeman ryo, @ItsAPurpleDragon, @zdball for being legendary D partners
- @Buildingwhat, @Thesassman12 for being just all-around solid dudes
- @BROSKI_002 and @punisher4124 for helping me throughout S4 in Albany
- @Moranaconda and @Eazy-_-V for having me on their show

Also, a shoutout to @Sedinpower. Although brief, I enjoyed playing on Pittsburgh for you. Your dedication as an owner is up there with the best of them.

@Chaskin12, thanks for drafting me in S3. I'm sure that was the best decision you've ever made.

I'm sure I'm forgetting some thank yous.

And thanks to all of LG's staff, BOGs, whatever your titles are. LG is a wonderful site and I've enjoyed visiting it every day for the last year +. I would imagine it's not easy running a site like this, so keep it up.

TL;DR - I'm the best of all time at LD, I look forward to my Jeter-esque send off the remainder of the season.

This is a celebration of my illustrious career. I'm an unofficial Stanley Cup winner, a Calder cup winner and a 2 time AHL All Star. I have climbed mountains with my teammates on my back. I have led the way for the next generation of up and coming stars. People look up to me. They don't look up to you. They look up to Goose. I look forward to seeing you stand and applaud when I receive my pre-game ceremony at your team's arena.

 

Congrats on the AHL Induction. I play in the NHL- don't think you've made much of an impact in that league.
