AHL Playoff format

kinda funny the rules were changed to knock the phantoms out of a spot for the marlies, just so happens that Its_gally is BOG for LG and his team is the marlies... so if your not good enough to make the playoffs, lets change the rules so that you get into the playoffs... especially on the last day of the season.... kinda like waiting till the last minute to see if they could do it on there own, when they were mathematically eliminated.... lets change the rules now

 

This really is dumbfoundingly ridiculous. Not only is such a last minute change absolutely unprofessional and unprecedented (in my experience), but it puts a black mark on LG that won't soon be forgotten. Will most people get over it and move on? Sure, but that hardly excuses it. It would have been a simple matter to wait for season 2 to make the change. It makes ZERO sense to push it through right away, especially when it causes such a big change in seedings on the last day of the season.

I just can't fathom the thought processes behind this decision. To be more 'realistic'? No. No real league on earth would implement a change like this at such a time. To do so would be suicide. It's pure disrespect to the players and management in this league, plain and simple.

I seem to recall that it was arrogant decisions of this nature that were the beginning of the end of the biggest league to exist before LG... Shame were that to begin happening again. But hey, we're just lousy PSN right? Hardly worth worrying about.

 

its a slap in the face, i took over the phantoms when they were 28th, put HOURS of work behind every trade, pick up... worked with our team, and got us into a playoff spot, just to have a "new rule " possibly take that away from us

 

If they were really trying to imitate the AHL/NHL they wouldnt implement something like this right at the end of the season. They'd do it in the offseason. Any real league that did something like this would be crucified.
