What I miss is searching clubs/pins and matching actual good/elite competition. For example, clubbing and you’d match against “A Select Few”, “Bigs”, “No Mercy”, @Bo-Dangles10 and his sweaty teams, or whatever group of 6 that you got to sit up in your chair because ur in for a tough game, etc you get the point. I get that people are busy and whatever but for the people who sit around waiting all night for a draft lobby. Why don’t you just get 6 and play pins/reg search. Xbox has a drafts discord but they also have countless teams trying to scrim at night which is awesome. NHL on psn is dead mainly cause we choose for it to be. If we showed interest in the game just as much as xbox players do with the amount of feedback they give. Im sure we would get more tournaments regardless PS4/PS5. At the end of this all i would wish is more competitive-ness on the console & then we’ll get tournaments. Thanks if u read this & would be cool with ur opinions also. - Fowy
Can we get our shit together so we can have tournaments please. And actually win a psn tournament with a psn team & not Icebreakers
There needs to be a deep dive into "How did we get here?" and it can't be blamed on LG or EA. It starts from the community looking in the mirror.
May just be the concept of a salary cap league has completely caused the ego of people. Club thrives in Europe. It could here too.
The game is shit there's no way customers are to blame for receiving a trash product. This is probably the main reason this game dying... The game is half broken and most would agree that the gameplay is awful... They also decided to split and piss off the community by making a PS4 and PS5 version, to make more money. Sorry but EA is 100% to blame, everything comes and started from their decisions. NHL21 was much more active and enjoyable
The problem Fow is bringing up is not new. He's discussing the lack of competitive players/teams regularly playing club and for the PSN side that has been declining for over 5 years, not just in the NHL 22 life cycle.
Clubs died when you could join anyones club at any time. The 12 hour wait timer for leaving a club kept teams together.
No reason to have a set club to play with on PSN everything is on Xbox. Club on PSN is mostly only used for levelling up in the first few months. Most people from the sweaty 18/19/20 days have stopped playing. I personally would rather just play drafts if I want to play rather than gathering people from the shoutbox.
I think the main problem the game is dying is bec people who were new would come into club games and get smacked around countlessly by sweaty players. This made the. Not buy/play nhl. I blame EA matchmaking and the lack of advertising for the game more than the gameplay.
You can blame EA all you want for a bad game, but they are not to blame for the lack of success of club on PSN. It's been on the decline since NHL 18 (imo anyways). NHL 17 I felt you could match a good team on any given night between 7pm to 2 or 3am sometimes (without having to back out much/match CHL teams to find one). NHL 18 and beyond you were lucky to have a few good teams per night playing club (outside of lines warming up for LG).
Regular club died when all you could find were lgchl teams. The community has always been fairly small, so on a good day you could have 6-8 good teams searching, but then there was 40-50 lgahl/lgchl teams and random drop-in all-stars that just backout when they match anyone decent. What this led to was either search for 30-45min to play a boring game against a shit team, or PIN one of the other decent teams. Once pin'ing became the only way to play club it died, imo. And like some have said, those pin teams weren't actually teams, it was just a collection of decent lg'rs from the SB. And I understand this post doesn't seem against PIN's and would like scrimmages and whatnot, but I too miss the good ol' days.
Psn is LG mindset dominant. Xbox is club mindset dominant. Psn is very “why try / waste my money when you know who will win” Xbox is very “I want to play the best and beat the best” It’s just the way the 2 consoles have always been unfortunately, and no amount of momentum for clubs over here every materialized over here. I have legit tried to spend 5-6 years getting EASHL momentum over here, so had @jonlol and others. As of right now, without complete institutional change of the PSN community, or cross console gameplay, I think it is very highly unlikely PSN will have any sort of competitive eashl scene soon, that isn’t highly relied upon Xbox coming over to this console to participate in it. Edit: To anyone who might think this is not true, why do you think Xbox is playing in new gen games and still getting the Esports support? It’s not the “ps5 is harder to get” bullshit that LG is feeding you. It’s because they know this, and like me, have seen this materialize.
