Welcome to the Week 4 ECHL Review! In previous weeks we have gone over some good teams, good goalies, and now I want to go over some bad teams. As we all know the ECHL and most all tiers outside of the NHL are trade (TRAIDSSSS) happy, I thought I would do my part and highlight some key players on some... well... not so good teams. REMINDER: Trade Deadline is: Sat, 12/09/2023 at 4:59:59 PM Obviously managers will be excluded from this list and I will try to keep my review to players who have been on the same team all 4 weeks and have played each and every week, as well as have a reasonable contract. This will reward some players by "taking their lumps" and continuing to grind out the season even when playoffs are mostly out of the picture outside of a miracle. I will be utilizing @RtC21 's write up of the East & West Midseason Review of the CHL Feeder teams to maybe save a couple solid players. Both are hyperlinked for easy viewing As always, we will be utilizing @Fleury l8l 's Spreadsheet and looking at several WAR statistics. For a refresher, WAR is: Wins Above Replacement. If you were to take an average player and put them in your shoes they would earn 0 WAR. What you do above or below that number is your WAR. EASTERN Savannah Ghost Pirates @x Akira 7 x - Goalie - $750k Listen, it is very easy to overlook this goalie and while I know it is difficult to trade goalies, I just had to point this out. Akira started out in the AHL on the Checkers where he admittedly did not preform at his best going 1-5 but he did play 2 of the top teams in the AHL as standings are right now. After that he got waived, RA'd to the Everblades... who traded him for @moeBambino (another former underrated goalie in the E) who then got sent up to the Checkers. Akira's WAR percentile is only a few under the other goalie in Savannah and he has had a much harder schedule to put him at 2-6-1. Greenville Swamp Rabbits @RedManKing - LW - $750k Only sitting behind management in points with 27 in 12 games, RedManKing would be a great pickup to any team and is minimum bid. Can't ask for more. Jacksonville Icemen @Hemmer083 - LW - $2.5M Difficult contract to eat if you do not have a lot of room to work with but if you do, you are getting by far the best winger wise (By WAR) on this team. (Sorry LG McDonald) Another thing to note is that Hemmer is on the PSN side, so if you are not okay going into discord calls this might not be the trade for you. BONUS TARGET: @CptnCanuck12 - RD - $750k Solid defenseman with a really good WAR card on its face, but I wouldn't look at it for too long and they play Offensive Defensemen (EW) Adirondack Thunder @Nhl 23 is buns - RW - $750k For a winger, his GA-TA is not awful, scores and assists, positive plus/minus, and overall his WAR card is great. Super cheap winger to beef up your squad. Please note that as of this write up (11/27), the Thunder are only 6 points out of a playoff spot and I don't think they will want to move this player. WESTERN Iowa Heartlanders @GARNYx24 - RW - $1.5M Kinda the same situation here. Iowa is only 8 points out of a playoff spot, not too sure they are going to want to move this player. Definitely on a line that is buzzing (10-5-1 with @xxNYJETSFAN21xx & @x BizNasty x ) and finds the back of the net efficiently. Toledo Walleye @Agent A Y 13 - LD - $750k Nothing too crazy in Toledo but unlike the last two teams they would definitely be opening to moving some players. Solid LD on a bad team but also has a bad habit of giving the puck away. -61 on Takeaway-Giveaway is not something you want to see from your D man. Usually a Center player a might be an advantage for your team on offense. Fort Wayne Komets @Mole11 - RW - $750k Just traded to this terrible team a couple weeks ago. Someone save Mole. Cheap PSN winger who has gone 4-3 on a team that is 10-23. You do the math. Utah Grizzlies @Chalupa III - RW/C - $750k Great winger with good all around stats. By far the most impressive WAR card from Utah. This is another team that is really not out of it yet but might be depending on how this week goes.
