| Between Two Pipes: Thanksgiving Edition |w/ Lundieeee Welcome back to another edition of Between Two Pipes with Lundieeee! Season 37 is a third of the way done as we stroll into the Thanksgiving break. In this edition, we are going to take a look into goalie GSAA, the top 10 goalies, an in-depth look at the top 5 goalies, and my favorite 5 tandems going forward. Please remember that these stats are not the tell all of how a goalie is performing but, it can be used to make a good assumption on how good they have been. **In order to qualify for the top 10's you needed to play a minimum of 9 games (3/week)** GSAA = [Shots against x (1 – league-average save percentage)] – goals allowed *Please see attached stats sheet and link to what GSAA is if you don't know* https://goaliecoaches.com/gsaa-goalies-understanding-gsaa-hockey/ https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet...n_XgjOJeAI2I5lmn4_NMIFtMM/edit#gid=1014309094 The poll for this edition is: What current top 10 goalie is most likely to cost in a game 7? Top 10 Goalies (GSAA) Perry x 88 (17.07) PitcheRxSwaGx (13.61) pitwinkle (11.84) Lundieeee (11.74) Kapitanov x 91 (9.95) Matthewpromanto (9.62) llPOMll (8.19) Cloutkaniemi (8.18) Darth Sniper ll (7.50) x Blix 33 (6.96) Beyond the Posts: A closer look into the top 5 goalies and how they have performed thus far. Perry x 88 Win: CLE, WBS, HER, BEL, BNG, STK, ONT, PSF, SJB, SYR, SPR Loss: LAV, CHA, RCH, CLE Record vs Playoff: 7-1 Record vs Non-Playoff: 4-3 Save % vs Playoff: .880% (SH: 84 | GA: 10) Save % vs Non-Playoff: .861& (SH: 101 | GA: 14) Perry is off to a great start in his second AHL season. Through the first 2 weeks, he was cracked putting up weekly save percentages above .900 but, we saw a slight dip in week 3. His team has allowed the lowest goals in the league by far and Perry is one of the biggest reasons why. He has been in a ton of 1 or 2 goal games and usually shuts the door for the win but there is a reason for concern. Only 2 teams in the Eastern Conference have scored less than Toronto, Lavall, and Springfield. Perry will continue to save most shots but the lack of scoring for this team over a long period of time will make it tougher and tougher for him to get wins. He is the frontrunner for the Aldege "Baz" Bastien Memorial Award through a third of the season. PitcheRxSwaGx Win: BNG, SPR, SYR, ONT, TUC, PSF, SYR, BNG Loss: WBS, HAR, HER, SJB, WBS, TOR, HAR Record vs Playoff: 4-4 Record vs Non-Playoff: 4-3 Save % vs Playoff: .870% (SH: 138 | GA: 18) Save % vs Non-Playoff: .787% (SH: 108 | GA: 23) Back again with Sharp and the boys, this guy deserves a lot more credit than he gets. Pswag has been around for a while now and is consistently putting up good starter stats. He is one of the elite tier goalies in the AHL and he is off to another great start in season 37. Along with Pitwinkle, he is seeing high volumes of shots against playoff teams and he is saving almost 9 out of every 10 shots he sees. Look for this goalie and team to stack up more in the wins column on the way to another cup run. pitwinkle Win: STK, BAK, TEX, PRO, SPR, CLE, MIL, ONT, TUC, SJB, BAK Loss: IA, ROC, HER, LVP, WBS, CHI Record vs Playoff: 5-5 Record vs Non-Playoff: 6-1 Save % vs Playoff: .821% (SH: 140 | GA: 25) Save % vs Non-Playoff: .843% (SH: 89 | GA: 14) A long time veteran of LG, pitwinkle is going to backstop GRG for a playoff run in season 37. He is part of a tandem allowing the 2nd least amount of goals in the Western Conference. Taking the bulk of the games, he is performing not only at a high level against shitters, but he is doing well against the biggies with a .821 save percentage. Look for this guy to stay among the top 5 all season long. Lundieeee Win: ROC, GRG, TEX, SPR Loss: COL, IA, MAN, WBS, HER, LAV Record vs playoff: 2-4 Record vs Non-Playoff: 2-2 Save % vs Playoff: .841% (SH: 88 | GA: 14) Save % vs Non-Playoff: .863% (SH: 73 | GA: 10) I'm a shitter. Kapitanov x 91 Win: HAR, BNG, HER, SPR, HEN, BEL, COL, GRG, MIL, CLE, SYR, HAR, BEL Loss: PRO, CLE, ROC, PRO Record vs Playoff: 6-4 Record vs Non-Playoff: 7-0 Save % vs Playoff: .806% (SH: 134| GA: 26) Save % vs Non-Playoff: .854% (SH: 82| GA:12) WBS is buzzing and Kap is leading their goalies to some wins. He is undefeated against non-playoff teams and that is huge. He is winning the games he should win and is being competitive versus playoff teams. It definitely helps that he plays in the future with his ping but he's still doing well. I don't know much about WBS other than shitter scheifele but, I do not expect this guy to be in the top 5 at season end based on his previous years' stats. Top 5 Tandems Toronto Marlies One of 4 teams with both goalies over a .800 save percentage, Toronto's tandem of Perry and Clutch comes in number one this time around. I spoke about perry above so not gonna get much into him. Clutch is an OK CHL goalie who had a couple of good games on a good defensive team so definitely keep an eye on him. If they both continue on the path they've already taken, these guys should finish as one of the best tandems of S37. Perry is carrying this tandem as of now. Colorado Eagles The number 1 team in the west has the 2nd best tandem through 3 weeks. POM and Clout have almost identical stats and are one of the reasons that their team is atop of the conference. POM is a CHL goalie but with this team, he will put up some good numbers. The Eagles definitely want to get more out of Clout being the longtime veteran he is but he is on a cheap contract. These guys have done very well so far, both having a save percentage over .800. This team might be looking to upgrade come playoff time if they don't keep this up. WBS Penguins Kapitanov is the clear cut starter here while being backed up by Shoota. Both have elite stats this season and are backstopping the Frenchies atop of the Eastern Atlantic. Shoota is one of the best backups in the league and should continue his success thus far. These guys will continue their success as long as their team keeps playing well. Hershey Bears The bears decided to go with 2 CHL goalies this season who made the jump. It's paying off so far and both Matt and Wolf seem to be having great early success. Matt comes in at 6 in GSAA so far while Wolf is not far behind at 12. Both guys should continue their success along with the team. If one is not performing and they are still in contention at the deadline, expect them to try and upgrade for a veteran presence. Great job so far guys. Belleville Senators Pswag is definitely carrying this tandem so far. He comes in 2nd overall in GSAA meanwhile cup4blues sits at 24/57 qualified tendys. Blues is still putting up starter numbers but give credit to Pswag for the success between the pipes for Belleville. Both are seasoned veterans and will continue to keep this team atop the standings. Bubble Tandems: LV Phantoms Milwaukee Admirals Thanks for reading and Happy Thanksgiving!
It's actually tragic that you didn't make it so that everyone can see who voted for each participant... Smh
O e night? This is for game "7" goalies. Aka starting goalies... you missed that boat by way more than 1 night
