We get to start off this article with a very strong team in the Blackhawks. Any team worth their salt that can keep their top to forward lines together is in a good spot. But when you mention it's almost two Pro Series lines that's when you know the team is special. MathQc is also a great 3rd line option who can hopefully help McNasty and EBS. On defense it's the same story. Gwan/Dups is one of the best d pairs in the league this season. Torts/Olympian is another great pairing, with Torts at 2 million the steal of the draft. Federov should be a decent third pair guy and Zwiggy just has to make sure he doesn't mess up. In the net they bring back the same tandem from S27 Winnipeg and you can't go wrong with that at all. Both were top 15 in GAA and SV% last season with @Vague Being being a perennial Vezina candidate.

After the Pier Talent era comes Bc Bud to try and put this team into the playoffs for the first time in awhile. Colorado has always seemed to be behind a divisional opponent whether it be Winnipeg, Nashville, or Dallas seasons ago. The forwards Bc brought in are all fairly productive, none of them will be a weak spot on their respective lines. A Nash/MVP/CJ first line will be very good, but they may consider splitting them up until playoff time. @Josh55777 and @l S4K l are good depth center options, and @ArMoRCoR13 should do fairly well if placed with the right pieces. At defense they picked up two studs in @xRICKOSHAY and @x Braydenn. They question is if @Skjei x 76 and Rex can perform as a top 4 pairing, which may be a bit much to ask. Temoz and Sharpy is another questionable pairing. Along with their questionable defensive depth their goaltending is also an interesting situation. @Remnato has proven to be a reliable goalie over the course of several seasons, but the backup has zero NHL goalie stats I can see.

Dallas has fielded an interesting team for how much cap they've spent. @RJYorke is an old returning veteran who should be worth the contract but past him it starts to look a bit weaker. If your best line is Yorke/Guy QC/Souper that's not a good thing. The depth is also a little suspect. @Mr SaWse didn't excel in Montreal even though he was accompanied by good forwards. It's hard to see their depth being too successful and will likely be difficult to move with such high cap prices. At defense it's also concerning. @hotwinglol shouldn't be your best defenseman. Gibby was demoted to the 3rd pair in FLA last season, Frost was the same in Toronto, and CSilveri is also a questionable decision for an NHL team. Supposedly @ryofthebeholder is a PSN stud, but he'd be on his own in terms of the defensive workload. The only saving grace of this team is the goaltending. @Winston Payne and @Tex243 is a top duo in the league without question. They will have their work cut out for them though, they also can't break out the puck...

This offense is entirely dependent on @Shockz and @CT 66 to carry a third forward while KingClutch and Hriiz work the second line. The depth line of Brownman/TKO/Ozzy is going to be pretty weak. At defense you are going to have Easy Mac on the top pair with either Zincy or Josh which doesn't look too promising. Stieny and Dark are good pickups. @Live_by_SIN is a name I don't know and he doesn't have stats to go on, so I'll assume he'll be a suitable 3rd pair guy. At the very least you can say the entire d core is "good enough" but they're missing that stud to anchor the top pair unless Easy Mac can return to his old form. In net the pairing of Natzu and Webby should help out the defense on any given night. Both will likely be reliable enough to keep games withing reach for their high powered top forward lines.

Almost immediately after posting my Eastern Conference article Nashville screwed it all up by trading with several teams in that article. What a huge dick move by fellow Dad Bod member @Tb Toxic. This is going to be the team to watch the first few weeks as it may be those three weeks that decide the course of their season. Hanek/JT/Naslund and Yahtzee/Toxic/Delong are two excellent forward lines. The third line is a bit weaker and understandably so but compared to other teams it isn't too bad. On defense there's one major point that has to be made. It's @Nraimondi44's time to shine. Optic, getzlaf, and Fungus are 3 other top 4 dmen, but Mondi will have to shine bright this season. Nashville will depend on it. @GregxWhite is a good starter, especially for the price. The backup Wall x 31 has zero stats for me to go on, so it's a huge guess and likely a calculated gamble by Toxic. Being that they gave Drally for him straight up I'm expecting he'll be decent.

Nxgi and Fizzi were placed in a pretty crap position by Yuri last season. From that position they've fielded a rather decent forward core. @gregy99 is a fantastic first line center option and Monstar Jay will be a great depth piece. They are gambling that some newer talent like @Ambient I37I and @Gros Tabarnack are going to have breakout seasons. The only potential weak spot is King Neymar. On defense they have a good top 4 in Fizzi, Luffy, Aelgi, and Pattelite. Nxgi and Schaefa also have great chemistry which will be very helpful for the third pairing. The goaltending is good enough to not be a liability. NHL Dangles has been a stud in the AHL, it will be interesting to see how he transfers. It looks like Federov is going to be the backup here.

Season two of "The Process" for A1Freak sees him bringing back a few of his draft pick players from last season, trimming away the weak performers, while also picking up known talent to bolster the team. @nO Undies On is a good first line center option if you can keep him happy, expect him to be paired with Sejje and Iconic Lobsters. Their center position depth is very good if they run with @MasterAmerica and @a1xFREAKx13 as their 2nd and 3rd line guys. They could distribute the true 3rd liners in Auggy, Jay, and Epeople among the two depth lines. At defense they have a good top pair in @l FreeStyle 7 l and @Poooch, but it is a bit thin behind them. Pont and Lord Stanley/SoloDolo will have to hold their own on the 2nd pair while the other and Showstopper will likely struggle. Bounce xb is okay in net, and I've been told Duganator is actually surprisingly good! It should be interesting to see how this duo performs.

After the draft there was some hope that Anaheim would take their depth they acquired and make some big splashes in bidding. Let's see how it turned out... At forward you have Duky/Mewtwo/Sitful as a likely top line, which isn't bad at all. Past that though you have rather questionable decisions. Juke 4k is nowhere near that contract price, and Sakic is about the same. Party Poopa is decent, but he needs supporting players to be productive. @lVlaT was very productive in the AHL last season, so he may be the piece that Poopa needs on the 2nd line. That 3rd line looks pretty horrible no matter how you cut it. On defense it isn't much better. Cornwallace is already trying to get his management banned and is most definitely unhappy there. @Mav 6ix is a good top 4 dman, but he's about all they got. The rest other than the toxic Cornwallace are 3rd pair or worse in the NHL. Spending 3 million on goalies is the reason why the depth is so poor. Binger nor Goldbud are worth that price in the goalie market but will do an okay job. The problem is they have almost nothing in front of them to help.

@SpIooosh didn't have a lot to do in bidding other than filling up the remaining depth spots with enough talent to make this team a contender. The forward core looks really good overall, but a couple wingers are going to have to switch to the center position. The line of OnDaFly/Arch/Krownwall is deadly, expect them to produce this season. Other than Tayz it is likely Bones,Gally, or Sbdr taking up centerman duties. @lxl MLGesus lxl will be even more effective this season with the improved skating and being able to skate past dmen. At defense you have two fantastic RDs in Aces and Bert, SpacelessBark should do well enough on the 3rd pair. Ballzy is very underrated and will do well on the Top pair. Some Pylon should do well with whomever they place on the second pair. @KiLLUM1NATIx420 is a big question mark though. What isn't in doubt is the great goalie duo they picked up. @Scheckel29 is a great starting option and Killtarted may be the best backup option in the league.

After their surprise run last season Calgary looks poised to be that sneaky team again. The forward core has plenty of chemistry with the likes of @boonsop and @l1l Sharp l0l, which will make a good duo for whatever line play on. @Ghostyy eX was also a good pickup late in bidding, he'll do fantastic on a depth line. They have checked most of the necessary boxes to make a decent forward core. At defense they brought back Base Camper to pair with Kleetus as the likely top pair. Past those two it gets a bit shaky, as Rocky as proven to be somewhat inconsistent. Pistol is a decent 500k pickup. Magic and Crass will be an okay 3rd pair. In net @X1xHeArLeYx2X will do a fine job in the starting role and they picked up a rather unknown backup who was in the CHL last season. They must see something worthwhile in him.

Many people, including myself, were very interested to see how Poopie went with his bidding. He appears to have followed the same formula he's done in the past. At forward it is impossible to ignore the massive 9 million dollar contract on @ScaryJoeyy. He's extremely talented, but it's likely he will not try for Poopie at all, and this is nothing new. Two of the Wal trio in @Rockxt 97 and @Elitsov 27 would be great with Joey, but that will be a line of very unhappy players. The depth is also very weak past that line. All of their LWs have almost zero NHL experience, and it's not like they were deadly last season wherever they were. @Aarskog is a good pickup at 500k though. At defense they have @HoT RiViT and Gonzo as their top dmen. Firephoenix will be expected to play 2nd pair time with Johnny Fivehole, both of which are more suited for a 3rd pair. Pensman is a wild card and very hard to predict and Marchand is a decent choice for a 3rd pair. In net it is above average for both the starter and backup. You could interchange the two and it wouldn't matter much.

At forward you have a portion of the Flyin' Hawaiians in @xFiore91x and @bull71dog which you can't go wrong with. @P i r a t e 87x is also a fantastic grab even at 4.5 million. The only question in regards to the depth is at the center position with @NE1SON 26 and @THEE UNCLE BuCK. They will be expected to do much better than .500 if these lines are to succeed. At defense it's a lot of question marks. Handz isn't a bad 500k pickup, the youtuber himself @L Oohwayy L has returned which will be interesting. I don't see a top pair dman on this team which could lead to some serious issues when they get thrown monster lines. They do however have most of their spots filled with reliable depth players. In net @l Rockystar l was thrown a big contract after several successful AHL seasons. He's going to have to stand tall with that d core in front of him.

This mix of good Flyer players and Sharks from last season is quite interesting. It seems like Philly took away San Jose's scraps and gave them the likes of CACATINO and Tendy. This forward core on paper looks very deadly across the board. @ScottyWildthing is a great pickup at 1 million and will dominate a third line with @Spawzz and @x Neal x 19 x. The top line of @Sbass19, @Po1andsFinest, and @Tendy is easily one of the best forward lines in the league. On defense you have @Odieeeeee filling that role as their big anchor on the backend. The right side is stacked with Snipeshow and Stamtoast taking the 2nd and 3rd pairings. The left side is a bit weaker depth wise. @Ay Dindu Nuffin is a great top pair choice though. The cap had to be cut somewhere, and they picked up a reliable goalie in Smitty and went with a gamble in Delosh. If it pays off this team could be your western conference champion.

The Bad Rags moved west this season taking the perennial losing franchise in Vancouver. They did a good job in bidding at the forward position picking up Danny Briere and Kev to compliment the old core of the Rangers. The SHITTERS are also back as a forward line, so expect them to do magical things again this season. At defesne they regained Blisdon at a very cheap 1.25 million. Seabass is also back at a cheap price as well as Davey. With that saved cap they picked up another stud in Nybo who will do great on their top pairing. UnshippedOwlcat was a Vezina candidate for a reason and sneaked through bidding somehow. Pitcher is also a great pickup at 500k.

The Knights did a fantastic job of picking up reliable depth players across the board at good prices. Ezreal is a great pickup at 1.5m and OK Crusty will do great on the 3rd line. The only weak spot is the LW position but you may see some roster moves to get Jay/SJU on the same line together. Don't forget about Kody either. On defense the top pair appears to be Tomek and Hooter which will do just fine. Chris and Sniz are great for top 4 play and Boon/Mbell are great 3rd pair pickups. Connor is the starter we all knew was going to Vegas and is well worth the 1.5 million. Clancy has been away for awhile, but if he can play like he used to he can be a top backup in the league.

    PLAYOFF PERCENTAGES

    Central Divison

    Blackhawks (Z) - 95%
    Predators (X) - 85%
    Wild (X) - 75%
    Jets (W) - 70%
    Avalanche - 50%
    Blues - 40%
    Stars - 10%

This division seems rather settled before the season even kicks off. Barring a meltdown this seeding order seems rather likely with little competition other than between Nashville and Minnesota. Colorado is on the outside looking in and I dont expect them to snag the second wild card. The Blues may be able to make it in if the stars align with a Winnipeg downfall and Colorado falling short. The Stars don't have any chance unless big moves are made.

    Pacific Division

    Coyotes (Y) - 85%
    Sharks (X) - 85%
    Golden Knights (X) - 80%
    Canucks (W) - 70%
    Flames - 45%
    Kings - 35%
    Oilers - 15%
    Ducks - 10%

This will be a very exciting division to follow as 1-4 are almost interchangeable. All of them have the ability to be contenders and the head to head matchups will be vital for seeding. It's hard to see Calgary getting in through the first wild card and Winnipeg likely has the other one. Meanwhile the Kings are a longshot and the likes of Edmonton and Anaheim don't really have a chance.
